🌧️ Rain tried to cancel us... but StreetFest is BACK! 🎉

If you were as bummed as we were when May’s event got rained out, this is your second chance to experience one of Lexington’s favorite community events.

Join us as we transform Shropshire Avenue into a space for people to bike, walk, roll, scoot, skate, play, and connect. Enjoy live music, games, local vendors, food, and fun while imagining what our streets can be when they’re designed for everyone.

⏰ 10 a.m. – 1 p.m.
📍 Shropshire Ave. | 540 E. Third St.

What transportation projects should move forward across Fayette and Jessamine counties? We want your input! 🚗 🚌 🚲 🚶

The Lexington Area MPO is accepting public comments on its draft Transportation Improvement Program—or TIP—for fiscal years 2027–2030. This four-year program includes funded roadway, safety, transit, sidewalk, shared-use trail and transportation study projects intended to help people get from Point A to Point B safely and in a reasonable amount of time.

The public comment period is open September 1–October 9, 2026.

You can also join us at either of our public information meetings:

Sept. 23 | 4–7 p.m.
Marksbury Family Branch of the Lexington Public Library

Oct. 1 | 4–7 p.m.
Jessamine County Public Library

Review the draft TIP and share your feedback in the link in the comments!

🚸 It’s back-to-school season, Lexington!

As students head back to class, our streets will be busier with children walking, biking, riding the bus, and crossing the street.

Let’s all do our part:
🛑 Slow down in school zones.
✋ Always stop for crossing guards.
👀 Stay alert for children at crosswalks and bus stops.

A little extra patience can make a big difference. Here’s to a safe and successful first day for every student, family, and school staff member. 🍎💛

✨ Safety is always in style ✨😎

For Stop on Red Week, we’re celebrating the little choices that make a big difference like stopping on red, yielding to people crossing, sharing the road, and looking out for one another.

🚨 New Kentucky school bus law = new stopping requirements.

As students head back to school, make sure you know when to stop for a school bus. The updated law expands when drivers must stop, helping create a safer trip for children getting on and off the bus.
