Today, I stopped by A Cup of Common Wealth to pick up coffee and show support for those affected by domestic and sexual violence. Local coffee shops are wrapping their cups in “Wake Up Lex” sleeves so we can all publicly show our support for survivors. Learn more by following Domestic & Sexual Violence Prevention Coalition.

This Friday, April 17 is our 8th annual Wake Up Lex event!

Help us spread a message of support for survivors of sexual violence by visiting one of the participating coffee shops. Order a drink and take a picture of your special Wake Up sleeve. Post on social media to share your support for survivors.

We are so very grateful to our wonderful partners in this event who have supported survivors year after year!

Not every home is a safe space. Children living in abusive home environments often struggle to feel safe anywhere.

When your kids bring friends home, they’re sharing their safe place with other children that may really need somewhere to feel respite and just be a kid for a bit.

Be that safe place for them! There are easy ways to create welcoming spots for kids to gather, have fun and feel understood by safe adults.

Evidence shows that when kids know there are people and places they can count on in crisis, outcomes are better throughout their entire lifetimes.

Safe people, safe places matter.
