Artists, this one’s for you - Art by Nature: From Concrete to Creek exhibit submission forms are due this Sunday, Sept 13!

This year, Art by Nature focuses on where Lexington’s water goes when it rains. We, especially our stormwater engineers, are very excited to see what you create!

+ Find a stormwater project on our map & visit it for inspiration.
+ Create a piece based on your favorite.
+ Submit your piece by Sept 13.

Whether you create art or enjoy it, you’re invited to the exhibition opening on Friday, Oct 16 at The Living Arts & Science Center, 362 North MLK Blvd. Come celebrate creeks & support local artists with us!

It’s very hot this week! Please be careful out there & stay hydrated ❤️

Lexington will activate Phase One of the Heat Plan beginning at noon today, Monday, August 31, through Friday, September 4, 2026.

As part of Phase One, the following actions will occur:
- LexTran will provide rides to cooling stations for those experiencing homelessness free of charge.
- Outreach teams will distribute supplies throughout the community.
- Lexington's community centers will be open until the early evening.
- City waste collection will begin early. Residential collection will begin at 4:30 a.m. and commercial collection at 3:30 a.m. Residents should place carts on the curb the night before their collection day.
- The Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention will open cooling stations, with locations at Arbor Youth Services, Lexington Rescue Mission, Mountain Comprehensive Care Center, New Life Day Center, New Vista Drop-In Center, Nathaniel Mission, and Recovery Café Lexington.
