UPDATE: Lexington E911 service has been fully restored. At this time, the issue appears to have been related to a service provider’s equipment failure. Thank you for your patience while the issue was resolved.

Lexington’s 9-1-1 system is currently not operating because of a provider issue.
Residents who have a 9-1-1 emergency should call 3-1-1 or text 9-1-1.
Calls to 9-1-1 are not going through to 9-1-1 operators. Residents will hear ringing, and then the call will be cut off. 9-1-1 operators can see the calls coming in and will attempt to call citizens back through a separate phone system.
This information will be updated as conditions change.

Today is the 20th anniversary of collective bargaining in our local. As today is the first Tuesday of the month, we held our general membership meeting. We are forever grateful for the work of the members who made collective bargaining a reality for us, who sacrificed much time away from their families, and put forth the effort to push the legislation across the line and negotiate our first agreement.

Sisters and Brothers-

Call to action for Social Security Fairness Act (H.R. 82)…

The opportunity to pass the Social Security Fairness Act is NOW and it will take an all-hands approach to get it done.

The bill is now in the US Senate and must be called to a vote before the end of this current Congress. The IAFF and other stakeholders have secured a pledge from Leader Schumer to have a vote called on the bill. It is necessary to secure over 60 votes to avoid a filibuster. If this is successful, the bill will be placed on the floor for an up or down vote. How can YOU help get this done ?

Individual members need to contact Kentucky’s Senators. Neither Senator Paul nor McConnell have committed as a cosponsor. Grassroots action by each KPFF member can help secure their commitment to vote YES on this important bill that will correct a long-standing injustice to firefighters and other public employees. Utilize the IAFF online advocacy tool ( https://www.votervoice.net/iframes/IAFF/Campaigns/107037/Respond) to send a message to Sen. Paul and Sen. McConnell.

Also, use the following contact information to place a call to Sen. Paul and Sen. McConnell’s Kentucky offices.

Mitch McConnell (R-KY)
Louisville (KY) Office: (502) 582-6304

Rand Paul (R-KY)
Bowling Green (KY) Office: (270) 782-8393

Tell them to, “Support firefighters and help give us financial security in retirement. Vote “Yes” to pass the Social Security Fairness Act when it is called for a vote.”

The Senate is not in session this week and many will be home for Thanksgiving. Reaching them at their home offices will send a powerful message to get this bill passed.

In solidarity,

K. Pletzke

Thanks to the relentless advocacy of our members, the House has passed H.R. 82, the Social Security Fairness Act, by a decisive 327-75. But now the clock is ticking. If the Senate doesn’t act before the 118th Congress concludes, this long-awaited...

Pretty cool to get support from Omaha Professional Fire Fighters Association, IAFF L385 as Big Blue Nation makes its way to the College World Series

"Hey, do you guys have a favorite in the CWS?" Well, since our local teams aren't in, technically we don't, but we are a bit biased for nicknames. Kentucky, making their first appearance in the CWS, has a relief pitcher - Cam O'Brien #10 that they call "The Fireman" because he's brought in to put out fires. Well, hearing that, we had to make him one of us so we bought him a helmet with the UK logo on the front and our IAFF union logo on the side to show our support. Go Fireman Cam!! (This isn't him in the photo - apparently when you have a fire helmet in the dugout it's a popular prop!)
