✨ Member Spotlight: Melissa Hammer ✨

Meet Melissa Hammer, a past President of the Junior League of Lexington, our current Nominating & Placement Director and a member of the website committee! Melissa has been an active member of the League for nine years, and during that time, she has grown tremendously as a leader.

After relocating to Lexington when her husband took a role at UK, Melissa joined JLL to make friends and get to know her new community. Since then, the League has challenged her to develop new skills, from managing budgets and navigating difficult conversations to providing tough feedback and effectively managing volunteers.

“The women in the League are what make the organization so special. We may have completely different life paths or passions, but we all feel strongly about serving our community and developing as leaders. That’s really special!”

Melissa is grateful for the opportunities the League has given her to grow, serve and lead. Her journey from a new member looking to build connections to serving as President and continuing to support the League in leadership roles is a testament to the impact of involvement and lifelong learning.

Thank you, Melissa, for your incredible leadership, dedication and continued commitment to the League! 💙

💛 This September, we’re finding the good and doing something about it!

The Junior League of Lexington is kicking off two weeks of giving back across Central Kentucky, supporting local nonprofits and organizations making a difference in our community.

We’re celebrating International Find the Good Day on Thursday, Sept. 17, with an evening of shopping, connection and giving back at Kendra Scott in The Summit at Fritz Farm from 5–7 p.m. Mention the Junior League at checkout, and 20% of your purchase will benefit JLL.

✨Member Spotlight: Lindsay Medley ✨

For Lindsay Medley, a six-year Member and the Junior League of Lexington’s 2027 Secretary, the relationships she’s built have been one of the most meaningful parts of her League experience.

“I’ve made hundreds of connections,” Lindsay shared, adding that the friendships she’s made are her favorite part of being a Member.

Some of her favorite memories have come from volunteering alongside those friends, including a memorable “dumpster day” spent covered in grime, eating doughnuts and laughing together.

Those connections are also what Lindsay is looking forward to most as she prepares to serve as Secretary next year: seeing other Members grow and thrive. 💙
