🚨TRAFFIC ALERT: Roots and Heritage Festival

The Roots and Heritage Festival will take place in downtown Lexington from September 11-13, 2026.

To accommodate the festival, the following roadways will be temporarily closed:

⛔Starting today, Thursday, September 10, @1200 through Sunday, September 13, at midnight:
• Elm Tree Ln will be closed between 3rd St & 4th St

⛔Starting tomorrow, Friday, September 11, @ 7:00 a.m. through Sunday, September 13, at midnight:
• Elm Tree Ln will be closed between Short St & 4th St
• 3rd St will be closed between MLK & Ohio St
• Corral St will be closed between Spruce St & Elm Tree Ln
• 2nd St will be closed between Spruce St & Elm Tree Ln
• Spruce St, Gunn St, and Noble St will be local traffic only
• Deweese St will be local traffic only with no street parking

Today we remember and reflect on the events and the lives lost 25 years ago on Sept. 11, 2001. Thank you to the Lexington Fire Department and Lexington Police Department for the beautiful wreath ceremony this morning. May we always remember and never forget. 🇺🇸

We’re proud to be able to offer spaces for Fayette County seniors to connect with each other through games, fitness, recreation, classes and events. Thank you to each and every one of you who make our senior centers such a special place to be and cheers to all that’s to come.

Join the Lexington Fire Department and Lexington Fraternal Order of Firefighters for the Lexington 9/11 Stair Climb at Kroger Field this Thursday, Sept. 10, at 6 p.m. This year marks the 25th anniversary of the September 11 tragedy. Register at the link in our comments to join us in honoring the memory of those who lost their lives, and recognizing the courage and sacrifice of all first responders who answered the call.
