Yesterday, Ann, Ed, and myself from Friends of the Parks attended the Watershed Summit at BCTC to hear about successful watershed restoration and water quality improvement projects in our community.
We learned about potential grant opportunities and new technology related to tree planting data collection among many other things from the wonderful speakers.
It was put on by WaterwaysLex 501(c)3 and led by my work colleague, Mr. John Pike, P.E. and the other board members.
John is a Water Resources Engineer for Palmer Engineering and when not working, volunteers his time with this organization and several others all focusing on waterways in our community.
*Most streams in Kentucky are impaired, meaning polluted. We write grants and implement water quality projects with our nonprofit’s to improve water quality in Lexington.
Ed, Ann and I were busy discussing stormwater grants and I forgot to get a photo of the three of us.
