It's harder for some to stay cool in extreme heat! Check on friends, family, and neighbors to make sure they're staying cool and hydrated.

Heat can be very taxing on the body and can lead to heat illness or make existing health conditions worse. Everyone can be vulnerable to heat, but some more so than others. Check in with friends, family, and neighbors, especially if they don't have access to effective air conditioning.

Lexington will extend Phase One of the Heat Plan through Saturday, September 5, 2026. The National Weather Service has also extended the Heat Advisory for Lexington until 8 p.m. EDT Friday, September 4, 2026.

Stay safe in the heat!

- Bring pets inside and make sure they have plenty of cool water.
