Our 4th graders put their problem solving skills to work today as they learned about systems, their parts, and their functions during our Energy Conversions unit!

Students were given just a few materials such as a solar panel, wires, motor, and fan with NO further directions. 😲

Their challenge? Design and build a functioning system that converts solar energy into mechanical/motion energy to spin the fan…without touching it!

We are excited to share the results of our blood drive:

🩸 Double Red Donations: 2
Collected: 16 units!

Because of your generosity, we were able to exceed our goal and collect 16 units of blood, which can make a tremendous difference in the lives of those in need. Thank you for helping make our blood drive a success

🐎 Learning Beyond the Classroom at Keeneland! 🏇

Our 5th graders had an incredible opportunity to visit Keeneland this week and discover why Lexington is known as the Horse Capital of the World!

Students rotated through 10 interactive stations exploring the many different sides of Kentucky’s horse racing industry. Through hands-on activities, they learned how the equine industry:

🐴 Brings visitors from around the world to Lexington
🌾 Supports local farmers and agriculture
🏪 Strengthens small businesses and our local economy
💼 Creates thousands of jobs across Kentucky
🏆 Preserves and shares an important part of our state’s heritage

Experiences like this bring learning to life and help our students see the connections between their classroom, their community, and the world around them.
