Join us in congratulating Lieutenant Palmer who was named the 2026 Kentucky DARE Officer of the Year. The award was presented on Tuesday, June 9th at Great Crossing High School in Georgetown. He was nominated anonymously and selected by the Kentucky D.A.R.E. Association.

Lieutenant Palmer has served as the DARE Officer at Crawford Middle School for 3 years, where he teaches approximately 100 8th-grade students in the program. When presented with the award, he was recognized for the impact he has had on the students in his classes.

Congratulations Lt. Caudill!
Lt. Caudill received The Hans Marrero Award last week which is a prestigious honor given by AXON Enterprise (makers of the TASER) to select Master TASER Instructors in law enforcement. Given its exclusivity, it represents a high benchmark of excellence in police instruction.

The award honors instructors who go above and beyond standard training duties. Specifically, it recognizes four key traits:

1. Leadership in the law enforcement training community.

2. High Energy and dedication to keeping officers safe and well-prepared.

3. Confidence in high-stress tactical environments.

Today is National Gun Violence Awareness Day.

Orange is the color we wear on NGVAD to honor and remember those whose lives have been taken due to gun violence.

Wear Orange Day (National Gun Violence Awareness Day) originated in 2013 after the tragic shooting death of 15-year-old Hadiya Pendleton in Chicago. Her childhood friends chose orange because it is the color hunters wear in the woods to signal safety and ensure they are not targets.

This afternoon, Lt. Col Robinson, Lt. Abbott, and Ricardo spoke with the 2026 Senior Intern Program!
Our Senior Interns learned about Amanda’s Center, Property Tax Division, Telecommunications, Community Outreach, and all the duties that come with being a Deputy Sheriff!

This program’s members consist of Fayette County residents 50 and older who are eager to learn more about their local government. The program provides an opportunity to have important conversations with city officials, participate in class activities, and visit several government facilities!

Thank you to The Senior Intern Program for allowing us to share information about our office while strengthening and creating relationships with our community members!
