As co-chair of the StrEEEt Safety Task Force, I'm glad to see tangible improvements from its Action Plan while I'm still on Council. One of those improvements is the Bike Lane Ordinance that I worked on with 3rd District Councilmember Tom Eblen. This policy is one way to move the needle to create a culture of safer streets for all modes of transportation.

We worked with LexTV to create this Council Comment video that gives more detail about the ordinance.

Check out the video, learn about the ordinance, and help keep Lexington-Fayette County safe by reporting any violations you see (info at 3:10).

Yesterday, I was honored and grateful to join Lexington’s 5th District - Councilmember Liz Sheehan, Lexington's 2nd District - Councilmember Shayla D. Lynch, and Councilwoman Emma Curtis - District 4, LFUCG Officials, and members of the Veterans’ Affairs Commission on Friday for the dedication of the new Global War of Terror Memorial at Veterans’ Park. As we remember and reflect on the 25th anniversary of the September 11 attacks, we also recognize those who made the ultimate sacrifice fighting for our country in the decades after.

Here’s a behind‑the‑scenes look while I was recording a Committee Preview Video with our Council Public Information Officer this morning!

I had a great time filming for Tuesday’s EQPW meeting. This new series launched this week and will give the public a quick, relatable preview of what’s coming up on the agenda for each week’s committee meeting. I’m excited to have this new resource available — it’s a great example of the creative initiatives that help connect the Council and the community in meaningful ways.

Make sure to follow Lexington-Fayette Urban County Council so you don’t miss our Committee Preview clips!
