For 20 years, Dennis Burnside has helped shape the future of Lexington.

As Assistant City Manager, Dennis played a key role in projects and initiatives that improved infrastructure, supported economic development, expanded housing opportunities, strengthened public services, and helped move our community forward.

Throughout his career, Dennis helped secure millions of dollars in grants and development funding benefiting the Lexington community. His work touched nearly every part of city government, including support for the Lexington Public Library, community improvement projects, and public infrastructure initiatives.

Dennis was instrumental in the creation of the Veterans Wall, a lasting tribute honoring those who served our country, and also helped secure grants resulting in the planting of more than 500 trees throughout the community, leaving a legacy future generations will continue to enjoy.

He also brought energy and personality to City events over the years, often serving as the entertainment at employee banquets, retirement parties, and community gatherings with his acting, humor, and performing talents that many employees and friends will long remember.

Dennis served during a period of tremendous growth and progress for Lexington, including the community being recognized as Nebraskaโ€™s 2015 Showcase Community.

Beyond the projects and accomplishments, Dennis has been a steady, thoughtful, and dedicated public servant committed to improving the quality of life for the people of Lexington.

Thank you, Dennis Burnside, for 20 years of leadership, professionalism, humor, and service to the City of Lexington.

Congratulations on your retirement, and best wishes to both You and Cheryl in the years ahead.
