Join us tomorrow for this important training!

Registration Link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/86914290703

About the Training:
June is Internet Safety Month—an important time to examine how grooming and online exploitation are impacting children and families across Kentucky. This session brings together prevention professionals and law enforcement to explore emerging electronic crimes and Kentucky’s new grooming law (HB4).
Participants will gain a deeper understanding of how grooming occurs in digital spaces, why it matters now, and how recent legislation affects prevention and response efforts. Through real-world examples, attendees will learn to recognize warning signs and take action.
The training will also cover what to do if grooming is suspected, highlight the role of the Attorney General’s Office, and share key resources and prevention strategies—equipping participants with practical tools to better protect youth.

We invite you to join us for an important virtual training in recognition of Internet Safety Month and the passage of HB4. Please find additional details below. We hope to see you there, virtually!

During National Police Week, PCAK extends our deepest gratitude to the entire law enforcement community for their service and commitment to protecting children, families, and communities across the Commonwealth. We are especially thankful for our long-standing partners at the Kentucky State Police (KSP), whose continued service and partnership help support PCAK’s mission to prevent child abuse and neglect.
From serving on PCAK’s board and our Kids Are Worth It! Advisory Committee, to presenting at KAWI, supporting Child Abuse Prevention Month, and providing education and training, KSP leaders and friends of PCAK have made a lasting impact on our work.
With special thanks to Sgt. Zack Morris, Capt. Mike Hindman, Maj. Matt Feltner (ret.), Lt. Mike Bowling (ret.), Maj. David Jude (ret.), Maj. Jeremy Murrell (ret.), Capt. Dwayne Depp (ret.), Detective Jon Sims, ESD K9 Cam, Lt. Mitchell Hazelett, Sgt. Matt Sudduth, Capt. Robert Purdy, Commissioner PJ Burnett, Sgt. Leslie Strong, Col. Nathan Kent (ret.), and Lt. Lonnie Bell (ret.).
We hope we haven’t missed anyone; if we have, please know it was an oversight. Each of you has helped shape the history of our organization, and we are deeply grateful.
Thank you, KSP, for all you do across the Commonwealth.

PCAK staff were honored to attend today’s ceremonial signing of House Bill 4, one of our key policy priorities during the 2026 legislative session. HB 4 creates the criminal offense of “grooming a minor,” helping law enforcement intervene earlier to better protect children from sexual exploitation and abuse. We’re grateful to Representative Marianne Proctor, State Representative- District 60 for her work throughout session and Ky Secretary of State Michael Adams for signing this bill.

Prevent Child Abuse Kentucky honors the extraordinary legacy of Executive Director, Jill Seyfred, who has announced her retirement after 42 years of dedicated service to PCAK and families across the Commonwealth.
Since joining PCAK in 1984 and becoming Executive Director in 1988, Jill has been instrumental in advancing child abuse prevention through advocacy, education, community engagement, and statewide partnerships. Jill has walked alongside families, advocates, Partners, and communities across Kentucky with compassion, vision, and a deep belief in prevention. Her leadership expanded PCAK’s reach, launched key initiatives, and elevated prevention as a priority across Kentucky.
Jill’s impact on PCAK, our Partners, and Kentucky families is immeasurable. As we prepare for this next chapter, we do so with deep gratitude for the foundation she has built and the legacy she leaves behind.
Please join us in congratulating Jill and celebrating her remarkable career.

Today we mourn former Rep. Jesse Crenshaw who was instrumental in the history of PCAK. Not only was Jesse a statesman, a trailblazer and a veteran, but he was also the architect of HB755 back in 1996 that brought instrumental funding to PCAK. We thank Jesse for his service to our country and to our Commonwealth. The children of Kentucky are better off because of his vision - 30 years ago. We mourn with Jesse's friends and family, as he leaves a legacy behind.
