Our team has been made aware of this non life threatening incident. The victim does fall within our purview, so our crisis response team has been deployed. Our goal is to support the victim & family and attempt to deescalate further violence.

On May 29, 2026, around 5:00 am, officers were dispatched to the 300 block of Boysenberry Street for a shooting with a victim. While responding, officers received an update about the victim’s location and found the male victim in the 800 block of Manchester Street. The victim was transported to a local hospital with reported non-life-threatening injuries.

On National "Stop the Bleed" Day last week, the Lexington Fire Department hosted ONE Lexington, University of Kentucky, and the Lexington-Fayette County Health Department in their indoor training center for a Stop the Bleed training for our community partners. The training was informative, interactive, and well-attended!

***Sidenote: A couple of weeks ago we posted about a young man named Xavion, that we are mentoring each week. He was able to attend the training as well!!

"Stop the Bleed is a nationwide public health campaign launched by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) to empower everyday people to act as immediate responders during life-threatening bleeding emergencies. The program was created based on lessons learned from military combat care in Iraq and Afghanistan, where quick bleeding control methods greatly increased survival rates.
Uncontrolled bleeding is a leading cause of preventable death after trauma. A person can die from severe blood loss within minutes—often before emergency medical services arrive. STOP THE BLEED® trains individuals to recognize life-threatening bleeding and respond effectively using techniques such as applying pressure, packing wounds, and using tourniquets."

"In an effort to build synergy among our violence prevention ecosystem, ONE Lexington's Community Outreach Coordinator, Larry Johnson, will organize bi-monthly professional development opportunities, FREE of cost to our community partners!" - Devine Carama
