The Lexington Fire Department would like to once again thank all the members of the community that came out this afternoon to be part of our push in ceremony. You truly are the reason we do what we do and couldn't continue doing it without your amazing support! Again, THANK YOU.

The Lexington Fire Department would like to invite the community to join us for a Push in Ceremony for our new Fire engine.
What is a Push in Ceremony? It is a time honored tradition where a new fire engine is "pushed" into its new home within the firehall by members of the fire department and community. It honors the tradition of when horse drawn fire apparatus had to be unhooked from the horses and pushed back into the firehall after every run.
The ceremony will be at 12 o'clock Monday, after the Memorial Day parade at the Firehall.

Members of the Lexington Fire Department were out early this overcast morning getting all of our fire hose tested.

This afternoon concluded the Fire Instructor 1 course. Several local area fire departments were represented in the course. The course consisted of several pre class reading assignments and 40 hours of instructor led classroom time. Students learned the responsibilities and roles of the fire instructor, legalities and methods of instruction. All of the knowledge learned was tested with a 100 question written exam as well as each student presenting a 15 minute state proctored instructional presentation.

Tuesday night V.E.I.S. training.

04/15/2026

At tonight's training members discussed V.E.I.S. (vent, enter, isolate, search) a rapid targeted search focusing on entering bedrooms thru windows then locating and isolating the room by closing the door then searching for victims.
Members discussed techniques for V.E.I.S. and safety considerations. Afterwards they all performed searches in a simulated 10'x20' room with simulated smoke. You can tell from the video that even with "clean white" smoke how poor visibility is.
The firefighter on the screen of the TIC is no more than 5' away.
