🇺🇸 JOIN US THIS SUNDAY! 🇺🇸 Celebrate the 40th Annual St. Mary’s County Flag Day Ceremony with us on Sunday, June 14, 2026, at 6 p.m. at Leonard Hall Recreation Center!

This free, family-friendly community tradition will feature:
⭐ A patriotic ceremony honoring our nation’s flag
⭐ Multiple color guards and ceremonial presentations
⭐ The History of the American Flag presented by Elks Lodge
⭐ A ceremonial flag retirement led by American Legion
⭐ Food provided by the 7th District Optimist Club
⭐ Performance from cast members of the 2026 Summerstock production of Disney’s Frozen: The Broadway Musical

❄ Kids are invited to dress up as their favorite Frozen characters! A professional photographer will be on-site with themed backgrounds and props for fun photo opportunities.
🎫 Plus — one lucky winner will be randomly selected to receive FOUR tickets to a Summerstock performance date of their choice!

🇺🇸 Have worn or damaged American flags that need proper disposal? There is still time to drop them off this week at the Chesapeake Building for ceremonial retirement during Sunday’s event.

Bring your family, your community spirit, and your patriotic pride as we celebrate 40 years of this meaningful St. Mary’s County tradition.

🔥SMCARA SUMMER ACTIVITIES ARE HEATING UP🌞 Add these events to your calendar!📅👀 🐷⚡️
June 14th:
2 pm at Geiger's - checking cables and labeling.

June 19th:
6:30 pm at Sonic in Lexington Park - WBTC (We're Better Than Calvert). Check out mobile rigs and get an idea of what you may want to purchase.

June 25th:
7:30 pm Club Meeting (PRNAM) - wrap up details for Summer Field Day.

June 27th/28th:
Summer Field Day @ Historic Sotterly.
RADIO EQUIPMENT SETUP: 9 am to noon on June 27th OPERATIONS BEGIN 2PM LOCAL
Food (donations) for the Community Dinner can be dropped off anytime Friday from 2pm to 6pm or Saturday 9:00 am to 5:00 pm meal served at 6pm All are welcomed, but please give a heads up so we have enough!

JULY
July 16th:
10 am to 2 pm - participate with NAS Museum. They will be hosting 30 middle school students as part of the Virginia Tech K-12 Initiative Aviation STEM Camp.
SMCARA will be setting up a GOTA station and anything else volunteers would like to offer. This will be 2 tables only. *Volunteers appreciated to man the tables and communicate with the kids on air.

July 18th:
10 am to 2 pm will be Family Day at the Museum.
SMCARA will be doing a Special Event - ACTIVATION Cedar Point Lighthouse from 10 am to 2 pm

In person CW CLASS:
July 3rd, 10th, 17th, 24th, 31st, August 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th, 7:00 pm to 8:00 pm will be the Morse Code class in the Museum Conference room.

August 27th:
7:30 pm Club Meeting - Don Thompson will present:

Reminder: The Commissioners of St. Mary's County will hold a joint meeting with the Commanding Officer of Naval Air Station Patuxent River on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at 9 a.m. This meeting will take place at the Patuxent River Naval Air Museum.

The CSMC will reconvene that day for their regular business meeting at 11 a.m. This will take place in the CSMC Meeting Room (1st floor, Chesapeake Building, 41770 Baldridge Street in Leonardtown). Meetings are open to the public; or you can watch live on SMCG TV Channel 95 or our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com//streams

‼️‼️PAX Museum Needs Your Help‼️‼️

Our Flight Simulator program urgently needs additional adult volunteers to help keep our simulators operating throughout the summer.

Because our student volunteers are under 18, an adult volunteer must be present during operating hours. Without enough adult support, simulator sessions may have to be reduced or canceled.

We're looking for adults who are interested in aviation, mentoring youth, supporting STEM education, or simply giving back to the community.

No pilot experience is required. Training is provided. Volunteers can serve as:
✈️ Mentors – Share aviation knowledge and guide students.
👥 Adult Managers – Supervise operations and support our student volunteer team.

Just a few hours of your time can make a significant difference. You'll help provide hands-on learning experiences while supporting students as they develop leadership, teamwork, and technical skills.
