History of Theater in Downtown Lewistown Mural

History of Theater in Downtown Lewistown Mural A mural depicting the rich theater history in downtown Lewistown, PA. The theaters are: the Rialto, the Embassy, the Temple Theatre, the Miller, & the Pastime.

Designed by the artist, Dwight Kirkland of BlackLeaf Studios with assistance from Mayor Deborah Bargo, historian Paul Fagley and the Mifflin County Historical Society. The sepia toned work of art will appear on the parking lot side of the Wilsons Jewelry Store building. Truly a labor of love, the project is being dedicated to raising awareness and funding for the continuation of the Embassy Theate

r restoration. Recently, the exterior of the theater was completely secured & weatherized via a grant. Next comes the plan document for the interior work. Funds raised will assist the artist with the overhead expenses of the project such as paint, equipment rentals and permits, all of the remaining proceeds will be dedicated for the documentation and implementation of the master plan for the remaining restoration. Lewistown has a rich theater history as the mural will depict. Featured will be Roy Rogers & Trigger on-stage appearance, the original seven ushers at the Embassy Theater, the local actress who was married to Rudolph Valentino for a very short time and a portrait of the town greeter and chemist/inventor of Wisto, Doc Eby. Donations are fully tax deductible and should be sent to: Friends of the Embassy Theater, PO Box 203, Burnham, PA 17009
