PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE

The City of Lewiston Water Division will be filing revised water rate schedules with the Maine Public Utilities Commission, proposed to take effect on August 17, 2026.

The proposed adjustment would help cover operational and maintenance expenses, as well as increases in debt service and depreciation. Current water rates have been in effect since July 1, 2021.

A public hearing will be held on July 7, 2026 at 7:00 pm at which time complete details will be furnished in support of the increase. The public hearing will be held in Council Chambers at City Hall 27 Pine Street.

Please refer to the attached graphic for complete details regarding the proposed rate schedule.

Lewiston voters can register to vote, request an absentee ballot, vote absentee in person, view sample ballots and return completed ballots through the City Clerk’s Office, 2nd floor, Lewiston City Hall, 27 Pine St.,
📅 Key Dates:
✅ Tue., June 2 until 7PM
Voter registration and absentee voting at the City Clerk’s Office until 7 PM!

✅ Tue., June 2
City Council is scheduled to vote on the school budget. The school budget vote is on a separate ballot, so if you vote early for the state primary, remember to vote on the school budget referendum. School budget absentee ballots are available now. Completed school budget absentee ballots may be returned beginning Wed., June 3 and must be returned no later than Tue., June 9 at 8PM.

✅ Thu., June 4 at 4PM
Deadline to request an absentee ballot from the City Clerk’s Office.

✅ Tue., June 9 at 8PM
