COUNTYWIDE BURN BAN ISSUED FOR OHIO COUNTY

Ohio County is under a countywide burn ban beginning Monday, Sept. 7, due to extremely dry conditions.

“Due to the dry weather, the fire chiefs have expressed concerns about wildfires,” Judge-Executive David Johnston said. “A burn ban will be in effect until conditions improve.”

Residents are asked to avoid outdoor burning and use extra caution with anything that could produce a spark or flame.

The burn ban will remain in effect until further notice.

THREATS: Damaging Wind

TIMING: 2pm to 10pm Saturday

DISCUSSION: A weak cold front will approach and then move in from the northeast late this afternoon/evening. A few showers/storms will develop ahead of it with the potential for isolated damaging wind gusts (highest threat to the east-northeast of Evansville) as they move across from north to south.
