Thank you Anheuser-Busch and National Volunteer Fire Council for the generous donation of emergency drinking water, and to Standard Sales Company, L.P. - Owensboro, KY for delivering it to our fire station! This water will help keep our firefighters hydrated during wildfires and extended responses in extreme heat.

The donation is provided through Anheuser-Busch’s Emergency Drinking Water for Wildland Firefighters program, which supports volunteer departments with critical hydration resources during wildfire season. Learn more at www.nvfc.org/water.

As students converge onto Lexington this week for State Fire School, we wanted to remind you that classes will be held throughout the Bluegrass and registered students will have received email confirmation of their class location. Please report directly to your classroom. For 2026, there will not be in-person registration check-in. For last minute registration needs, visit our registration desk in Central Bank Center on Level 2 near the elevators. Registration will be open June 11, 12, and 13 from 7:00am – 4:00pm and on June 14 from 7:00am – 12:00pm.

Parking is available via the High Street Parking lot for flat fee of $12/day (plus tax). Hourly parking rates are not available. Drivers parking in this lot are responsible to pay for any parking fees incurred. There is no free parking.

Breakfast and lunch will be available for purchase daily from Central Bank Center concessions, on the 2nd level in front of Club B. This year, State Fire School will be offering food vouchers for registered students for lunch on Saturday. Vouchers are good toward $11 of food and non-alcoholic beverage purchase at the Central Bank Concessions Hardwood & Oak stand. For purchases in excess of $11 at the concession stand, the student will be responsible to pay the difference. Please note that Central Bank Center is a CASHLESS institution.

State Fire School again will be offering FREE t-shirts to registered students. Students may pick up their shirt in the 2nd floor lobby on Friday, Saturday or Sunday. During vendor show hours, shirts may be picked up in the Kentucky Firefighters Association booth in the vendor hall. A photo ID must be provided to redeem this offer.

The Kentucky Fire Commission will host their meeting Thursday, June 11, beginning at 1:00pm. The Kentucky Firefighters Association will host their meeting Thursday, June 11, beginning at 5:00pm. Both meetings will be held in Central Bank Center Meeting Room 5. All are welcome to attend.

June is Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) Awareness Month and as such, we would like to highlight our Line of Duty Stress Injury Reimbursement program. This confidential program establishes reimbursement to current volunteer and full-time paid firefighters, or persons who were a volunteer or full-time paid firefighter in the Commonwealth of Kentucky in the previous five years that meet eligibility requirements as set forth in the policy and have submitted a completed eligibility packet to the Fire Commission office.

Reimbursable out-of-pocket costs include:
• Co-pays
• Medication
• In-patient services
• Out-patient services
• Therapy

Each qualifying individual may receive reimbursement benefits up to $50,000. Reimbursements under this policy are only covered for PTSD or post-traumatic stress injury care or treatment that was provided on or after July 1, 2020.

I feel like this shouldn’t have to be said, but here we are. When visiting the annual Lewisport Heritage Festival, we at LFD please request the public to not park IN FRONT of the Lewisport Fire Station. The bay doors specify that parking in front of these is doors is prohibited. There are emergency vehicles (fire trucks and an ambulance) that are housed behind the bay doors, and parking in front of these doors could potentially cause a delay in emergency response to a scene to someone requiring urgent help. Keep in mind firetrucks are pretty big, and we do require the entire space to park these vehicles. Lewisport Fire Department is not public parking. The parking in the very front is for firefighters and emergency personnel only. If a vehicle is found parked in front of emergency vehicle bay doors, the vehicle will be towed at the owners expense.

We invite to come to the Heritage Festival and we hope you enjoy yourselves and have a good time! Just please be mindful when you are looking for a place to park.
