The piggies are loaded up and heading to Frankford Elementary kindergartners this morning!

Established in 2023, Our Future Fund was created with a mission to provide every public school student in Greenbrier, Monroe, and Pocahontas counties with a college/trade school savings account. With help from the James F. B. Peyton Fund and the H. B. Werhle Foundation, the program was piloted at Frankford Elementary and expanded to Peterstown Elementary in 2024 and Ronceverte Elementary in 2025.

Our Future Fund’s goal is to provide every kindergartener with a savings account in their name; and with the support of civic, businesses, and faith groups, grow those savings for their use for further education after high school graduation.

The research has demonstrated that children with a savings account are six times more likely to go to college or trade school than children who don’t have a savings account.

Investment in this program is an investment into our future workforce in the Greenbrier Valley!

Appalachia Funders Network does an exceptional job of understanding and cultivating the emotion connected to this work. Most of us do this because we feel it is not optional. The complexity of this region requires a network that gets it and gets us.

We are so grateful for this place, our people, and this profound experience!

This community! 🥹

We were so disappointed to have to cancel our Greenbrier Valley Women's Fund Luncheon due to weather this year but the folks at Mountain Table thoughtfully boxed up the meal so that Mary and her team at Children's Home Society of WV - Lewisburg Site could get into some very special bellies. ❤️

Thank you for all your help! This is what it’s all about.
