🚨 E-BIKE & E-SCOOTER SAFETY REMINDER 🚨

Hey Lewisburg! With more electric bikes and scooters on our streets, the Lewisburg Fire Department wants to make sure everyone gets home safely.

Always protect yourself by wearing a properly fitted helmet on every ride. Make sure drivers can see you by wearing bright clothing and keeping your front and rear lights on, especially at dusk. Stay fully focused on the road by keeping both hands on the handlebars and leaving your headphones at home.

Let's keep Lewisburg's roads safe for everyone. Ride smart and look out for one another!

Lewisburg Fire EMS had the incredible opportunity to host the crew from MedFlight for a hands-on joint training session!
When seconds count, seamless teamwork between ground crews and air medical teams is absolutely critical. Our personnel practiced coordination, landing zone safety, and patient transfer protocols to ensure that when our community needs us most, we operate as one fluid unit.
We are incredibly grateful for MedFlight’s dedication to training alongside us, sharing their expertise, and helping us keep our skills sharp.
Thank you for your partnership and for everything you do to help us protect and serve Lewisburg and the surrounding areas!

A little out of our realm of normal activity. We are opening our building to host a sports physical clinic next Friday 6/5 at 5PM where Nuse Medical will be completing physicals for athletes in need. We hope that events like this can save our residents some gas money, a Doctors office visit, and keep the kids on the fields or courts in the coming year. Open to anyone not just TCN kids!

I would be remiss if I did not mention the loss of George Prater this past week. George was an invaluable asset to the residents of Harrison Township. On behalf of our team, thank you for your assistance over the years. Particularly for those times when we were confronted with snowstorms, which made it impossible for us to reach our destinations. You will be missed!! To his family and those with whom he worked with at the Township, please accept our condolences on your loss.

This past week we were confronted with a residential fire in our contracted area of Twin TWP. Upon our arrival we initiated an interior attack to hopefully reduce the amount of loss for the homeowner. We were fortunate to limit the amount of damage. We were able to do this with the assistance of our automatic mutual aid partner from West Alexandria and help from our neighbors Brookville and Verona. To those departments we thank you for your invaluable response.

At the recent TCN Senior awards our department had the the pleasure to participate. Over the last many years we have awarded the Simone Hobbs Memorial scholarship to a worthy TCN Senior. This gift is given in memory of Simone who was an invaluable member of our team. Unfortunately, she passed much too early in her life. This scholarship is given to a deserving Senior who has expressed a desire to further their education in a medically related field. This year we awarded this $500 gift to Ms. Lilly Davidson. We thank those students who applied for this scholarship. We wish Ms. Davidson well as she pursues her goals. We were fortunate to have Simone’s daughter, Shelly Lavendar, in attendance to assist Battalion Chief Lewis awarding our scholarship.

It is with profound sadness, we would like to share the passing of George Isaac Prater our long time employee, coworker, friend, and historian. He passed away yesterday 5/16/2026 at Kettering Health Preble County. George had a brash personality, but a kind heart, and did so much for so many. A man that could literally fix anything.

This is going to be a tough week around Roselawn with the upcoming Memorial Day holiday. George took pride in having the place top notch every year. We will honor him by doing our best to do the same. This picture sums him up, he was not one for a picture. Not afraid to get dirty and get it done no matter the task. Please keep his family, close friends, and co-workers in your thoughts and prayers.

Further details will be announced as his beloved daughter works through these trying times.

As I reflect on the years that I have been Chief of this department, many things come to mind. The good times and the frustrating, challenging, and trying times. The most difficult thing is when I am confronted with losing not only a former member, but a friend as well. This past Sunday Paula Creech passed away. She was not only a former member of our department, but one of our first members to become a paramedic. Her career led her to several fire departments in the area and eventually retired as a Battalion Chief with the Clayton Fire Department. She was a true public servant who served her departments with dedication, integrity and a commitment to her communities. She was obviously a mentor to many individuals through her career. Her two most important priorities were her children, Brady and Mallory, who followed her to positions in the Fire Service. She was married to her husband Randy, who has been a long time dedicated public servant. Over the last several months Randy was a committed and tireless caregiver for Paula. RIP, you have earned it!
