Today, D Platoon, led by Captain Mitchell and Lieutenant Wagner, took our recruits to Aurandโ€™s Towing for hands-on vehicle rescue training.

Crews worked through a variety of vehicle extrication scenarios, practicing vehicle stabilization, victim removal, and different cutting techniques using our HURST Rescue Tools. This training provided our recruits with valuable hands-on experience and an opportunity to build confidence operating rescue tools in realistic scenarios.

Local 4917 would like to extend a sincere thank you to Aurandโ€™s Towing for providing the vehicles and allowing our recruits to train in a realistic environment. Your support of our firefighters and our training program is greatly appreciated!

Today, Assistant Chief Derr, Captain Funk, and Lieutenant Sanders traveled with our three recruits to the Fremont Fire Company Training Facility for a day of hands-on training focused on engine and truck company operations.

The recruits were put through their paces in multiple scenarios designed to challenge their skills and reinforce effective teamwork and operational readiness.

Training began with VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search) operations, both with and without the use of a Thermal Imaging Camera, followed by ground ladder placement and positioning.

The recruits then moved into the burn building, where they worked through scenarios involving fire behavior, hose line advancement and management, and fire suppression operations. At the same time, the outside team conducted simulated roof ventilation cuts from the aerial apparatus, allowing the recruits to experience coordinated interior and exterior operations.

Training like this is an important part of preparing our members to operate safely and effectively in the demanding environments they may encounter on the fireground.

Local 4917 would like to sincerely thank the Fremont Fire Department for allowing us to utilize their training facility and for supporting the continued development of our members.
