You spent months making it.

Maybe years.

You wrote it. You shot it. You edited it. You solved problems nobody else even knew existed. You probably questioned whether the whole thing was ever going to come together.

And then one day...

The lights go down.

The room gets quiet.

Your film fills the screen.

And for the next few minutes, a room full of people gets to experience something that existed in your head long before it existed anywhere else.

That’s what we want for independent filmmakers.

A real screen.
A real theatre.
A real audience.

And we’re not talking about just any theatre.

The Campus Theatre was built in 1941 and remains one of the few surviving single-screen Art Deco theatres in the country. It has 16-foot murals, etched glass doors, original fixtures, a 340-seat auditorium, and an 18’ × 31’ screen.

It’s a place built for movies.

And your film could be one of them.

The 2nd Annual Riot in the River Film Festival takes over the Campus Theatre in Downtown Lewisburg, Pennsylvania, April 2–4, 2027.

We’re looking for independent, student, and emerging filmmakers with something worth putting on that screen.

Horror.
Sci-Fi.
Comedy.
Drama.
Documentary.
Animation.
LGBTQ+ stories.
Experimental work.
Music videos.
And the films that don’t fit neatly anywhere.

Don’t let your film live forever on a hard drive.

Give it a screen.

Give it an audience.

Don’t make something safe.

Don’t make the film you think people expect you to make.

Make the strange one. The personal one. The risky one. The one you’ve been thinking about for years.

Make something that makes people laugh. Or scream. Or think. Or sit through the credits in silence.

Make something that doesn’t fit neatly into a box.

Independent film isn’t about playing it safe. It’s about taking the chance to make something that only you could have made.

So take the shot. Tell the story you actually want to tell.

Then bring it to the River. 🌊
