Public Speaking students + first graders + books = a pretty perfect combination!

Mr. Espinosa’s students put their communication skills to work as they visited Mrs. Diggins’ classroom to read with our first graders. The high schoolers got some practice speaking to an audience, and the first graders got some very special reading buddies!

On Monday prior to the start of school, Link Crew welcomed the freshmen to high school. Junior and senior leaders, who trained over the summer, led activities and tours during orientation. They'll continue working with freshmen advisories throughout the year.

A huge thank you to the Green Dragon Foundation for funding a major upgrade to the High School auditorium's wireless microphone system this summer.
The old system was aging, which made it hard to consistently support the range of programs that use the auditorium each year. Thanks to GDF's support, the auditorium now has a completely rebuilt wireless rack with 28 bodypack channels plus three handheld microphones, giving our staff and students far more flexibility and reliability for performances, assemblies, and presentations.

This upgrade will make a real difference for the Fall Play and the High School Musical, along with concerts, guest speakers, and community events held in the auditorium throughout the year. It's the kind of behind-the-scenes investment that audiences may not notice directly, but that performers and the tech crew will feel every single show.

We're grateful for the Green Dragon Foundation's continued partnership and their commitment to giving our students the tools they need to shine on stage. Thank you for investing in our auditorium and in the experiences it makes possible.

Day One of the 2026-27 school year is officially in the books!

It was so great to see our hallways full of energy again this morning. New backpacks, big smiles, a few nervous first-timers, and plenty of excited returning Green Dragons.

Thank you to our families for trusting us with your children. And guess what? We get to do it all again tomorrow! Here’s to a great year ahead!

Today marks the first day of the 2026-2027 school year. Our buildings are full of energy, excitement, and a little bit of nervous anticipation. Whether your student is walking into kindergarten for the first time or starting their senior year, our entire staff is ready to make this a great year.

A huge thank you to the teachers, support staff, and administrators across all four buildings who spent the last few weeks preparing classrooms, planning lessons, and getting ready to welcome our students back. Take a look at the teams that make each of our buildings run:

On Thursday, we invited all LASD staff, including our partners at Adam Transportation, back for a keynote from Brian Mendler, author of Relationships First and a renowned educator and professional development speaker.

Mendler shared powerful strategies on classroom management, student engagement, and building strong relationships with students. This is exactly the kind of foundation we want for the year ahead.

This event was made possible through the generosity of the Carodiskey Foundation and the Green Dragon Foundation, specifically the DiRocco Endowment for Professional Development. We’re grateful for their continued investment in our staff and students.

We’re excited to put these tools into practice all year long!
