💛🎧 A SPECIAL SHOUT-OUT TO MATTHEW HOFFMAN 🎧💛
Working in 911, we rarely get to meet the people on the other end of the phone.
We answer the call, do everything we can to get help where it needs to go, and then move on to the next emergency—often never knowing the rest of the story.
This week was different.
Back in April, Telecommunicator Matthew Hoffman answered a call from a man who had been seriously injured while cutting trees in a wooded area. He was hurt, unable to move, and determining exactly where he was located was a challenge. Matthew stayed with the situation, gathered the information responders needed, helped narrow down the man's location, and worked with the rest of our communications team as emergency responders made their way to him.
Months later, that caller and his wife came to Marshall County 911 for a reason we don't get to experience very often:
They wanted to meet Matthew and thank the person who answered their call.
Moments like this mean more than most people realize.
Our telecommunicators are often the unseen first first responders. They may never shake the hand of the person they helped, see the outcome of the emergency, or hear the words "thank you."
That's what makes a visit like this so special.
Matthew, we're proud of the work you did that day and the work you do every day for the citizens of Marshall County.
And to this gentleman and his wife—thank you for taking the time to come back and meet the voice that was there when you needed help. It meant a great deal to all of us. 💙💛
