The purpose of the Committee is to advise the President on diversity issues at the University and to promote effective participation by members of all racial, ethnic and under-represented groups in the civic life of Bucknell. The specific responsibilities of the Committee include:
- Review and assess the campus climate and current university programs and initiatives relative to advancing a sense o
f inclusiveness on our campus.

The Committee acts proactively to promote diversity and create an open and inclusive community by working with administrators and faculty. The Committee hopes to sponsor events throughout the school year that bring all members of our community together for thought provoking debate and discussion on the creation and maintenance of an inclusive community. The Committee responds when an event—on campus, within the local Lewisburg community, the greater Susquehanna Valley, within the State of Pennsylvania, or throughout our nation—enhances or challenges our goal of an open and inclusive community. The Committee will act as a fact finder and facilitator of discussion for events that occur on campus or within the local Lewisburg Community. The Committee will act as a facilitator of discussion for events that occur at the city, state, or national level but do not result from actions taken by members of our community.
