**Update 10/7/26:**

The Herring Point, Gordon’s Pond and The Point vehicle crossings are now open.

Navy Crossing and Beach Plum remain closed at this time.

Trails in the park are passible but in wash out areas along the Gordons Pond trail use caution.

The fishing pier is open for public access.

What to help out with our fun, annual Halloween event at the park the week of Oct. 21-25? We need volunteers to carve pumpkins, dress up as story book character and other jobs to assist visitors. Scan the QR code below and register or call the Nature Center at 302-645-6852 for more information.

Sections of the Gordon's Pond and Walking Dunes Trails are currently underwater due to the storm. Please use caution and avoid attempting to cross the flooded sections.

Storm Update 9/26/26:

At this time all surf fishing vehicle crossings remain closed due to unsafe conditions on the beaches.

Additionally the fishing pier has been closed off for the remainder of the storm for the safety of visitors.

Bring your 3 to 5-year-old to Guppy Club: Clamoring for Seashells this Friday, September 25 at 10:30 a.m. at the Nature Center. Find out about the different shapes of shells on our beaches and where they come from. $6 per children. Children must be accompanied by an adult (no fee) and dressed for the outdoors.

9/22 6:50pm: All vehicle crossings at Cape Henlopen State Park are now closed. We will update you as conditions change.

9/22 10:20am: The Navy and Point crossings are closed. The Herring Point and Gordon’s Pond crossings remain open.

Due to the storms and high tides, Navy Beach has been closed. The Point, Herring Point, and Gordon’s Pond remain open at this time. We will update the post as the weather progresses.

Looking for some family-friendly Halloween fun?

Join us for Children's Fantasy Trail 2026! Dress in your favorite costume, meet your favorite storybook characters, and trick-or-treat our jack-o-lantern lined trail!

The Children's Fantasy Trail will be held Friday and Saturday, October 23 and 24, from 6:00- 8:00 p.m. and Sunday October 25 from 6:00 -7:30 p.m. each night starting outside the Nature Center.
Entrance fee for the trail is $7 per person, adults and children. No pre-registration.
