It is with deep regret that the Nassau County Fire Marshals Office announces the passing of retired Division Supervisor Fire Marshal Cliff Newman on Thursday January 15, 2026.

Cliff was a Levittown FD member and began his career with Nassau County Fire Communications in 1978 as a FireCom dispatcher; he then was appointed as a Fire Inspector with the Nassau County Fire Marshals Office in 1983, retiring as the Division Supervisor of the Fire Investigations Division in 2005.

Please keep Cliff, his wife Anita and his family and friends in your thoughts and prayers.

Services will be private.

It is with deep regret that the Officers and Members of Engine Company 623 announce the passing of Ex-
Captain and former Department Secretary Clifford J. Newman who passed on, January 15th, 2026.

With over 38 years in Engine Company Three, Cliff joined the LFD in 1968 rising through the ranks to become Captain in 1980/81. He then went on to serve as the Department Secretary from 1984 to 1993. Cliff left the Department when he retired from the Nassau County Fire Marshall's office in 2007 and moved to Florida. He is a Life Member of the Department.

We send our heartfelt condolences to his wife Anita and to his friends and family. Services will be private.
