🚒 A HUGE THANK YOU to our volunteers!

Our department is powered 100% by dedicated volunteers, and we appreciate every single one of you! Today we want to give a special shout-out to two high school seniors who donated their time at our shooting match:

🔥 Hope Kellems
A senior at Perry Central High School, Hope has grown up helping at the shooting match, working alongside her mother and grandmother year after year! Thanks for all your time and work, Hope!

🔥 Jazmyne Little
District 18 Miss Flame from the Carter Fire Department and a senior at Heritage Hills High School, Jazmyne surprised us by showing up just to volunteer! She spent several hours helping serve food. Thank you for jumping right in with such a great attitude!

👏 What a great example you both are!

The Leopold Christmas Parade is always such a treat. 🎄 The volunteer firemen enjoy celebrating with the community, and their children have a blast riding in the fire trucks!

What a Great Day!

Huge thanks to our amazing community for all your support today and to all the patrons who mailed in their raffle tickets!

A big shoutout to our volunteer firemen and their families for everything they do, not just today but all year long. You make our department what it is, and we’re so grateful for the time and effort you give!

Our shooting match is today! The volunteer fireman and community members are hard at work setting up! Stop by and see the beautiful new truck, grab a burger and chili, a chance on a splatter board or enter our match- lots of Merkley gift cards for prizes! We are happy to share that our department was recently able to get our new brush truck in service! Thanks to the support of our raffle and a very generous private donation, Central Perry was able to purchase a Chevrolet pickup and slide-in skid unit. The new unit consists of a new water pump, hose, and hose reel, essential for extinguishing fires. This new vehicle replaces a mid-1970s model and marks the first new truck our department has purchased in over 50 years. We believe the long service life of our vehicles is a testament to the care and maintenance provided by our volunteers. These upgrades make our response time faster and our equipment more reliable when responding to emergencies. We hope this new truck will serve our community for the next 50 years.

Good Reminder!

After witnessing a close call on Monday evening, we wanted to remind everyone that:

Indiana Code 9-21-8-35 requires motorists to yield the right of way (and pull over to and as close as possible to the right-hand edge or curb of the roadway) for an approaching emergency vehicle with activated lights or siren. Please do not come to a complete stop in the roadway as this may have unintended consequences.

Upon approaching a parked emergency vehicle with its lights activated, motorist should change lanes away from the emergency vehicle if possible. Otherwise, motorist should slow down ("to a speed at least 10 miles per hour less than the post speed limit") and proceed with caution if changing lanes would be impossible or unsafe.

We understand that it can be stressful when an emergency vehicle approaches a motorist but by yielding appropriately, you are helping us safely respond to calls for service.

Earlier this month, Central Perry Vol. Fire Department was awarded a $2,000 grant from the MFA Oil Foundation to upgrade handheld lights. These lights will be used on emergency calls when lighting is inadequate. We would like to thank the MFA Oil Foundation for their generous donation.
