Today the Leonidas Township Fire Department remained busy responding to multiple incidents throughout the day.

The day began with members staffing the station due to the potential for severe weather moving through the area. While at the station it became apparent that a severe storm was approaching Leonidas Township, and members sought shelter in a nearby member’s basement until the storm passed.

Following the storm, a crew of four firefighters was sent to the City of Three Rivers to assist with storm related incidents. While members were assisting in Three Rivers, the Leonidas Fire Department also responded within the township to a report of a downed power line.

After all personnel returned to the station, the department was dispatched to a reported building fire. Leonidas Fire Department responded immediately with seven personnel. Upon arrival, the fire was already out and the incident is currently under investigation.

The Leonidas Township Fire Department remains committed to protecting and serving both our community and neighboring communities when assistance is needed.

🚒 Training Day! 💦
This morning, our members are working on drafting operations—a critical skill that allows us to pull water from static sources like ponds or tanks during water shuttle operations.

Since our township doesn’t have fire hydrants, mastering this tactic is essential to our ability to fight fires effectively.

👋 If you see us out and about, don’t hesitate to stop and ask questions—we’re always happy to chat with our community!
