March update🚒
The LFD responded to numerous calls for service and conducted many hours of training throughout the month of March.
3/22 - 16:11hrs Units were dispatched to 313 Woodland Pl. for a reported fire in a multiple dwelling. LE-7 arrived at 16:15 and confirmed a fire in the public hallway on the 3rd floor and transmitted an all hands. It was discovered to be an e-scooter on fire in the hallway and was quickly knocked with a water can. LE-9, Engine 2, Ladder 1, Englewood engine, Fort Lee ladder, and Bergen county hazmat responded. Units operated for approx. 2 hours and the fire was placed under control after searches, ventilation, and battery disposal was complete by BC hazmat. Thank you and . Please be mindful where you store your e-scooters and similar battery powered items (bikes, hoverboards, etc) These batteries are the cause of thousands of fires nationwide and had this fire gone unnoticed it could have been very serious and possibly deadly. Please avoid storing these items indoors, near sleeping areas and exits, or near buildings if stored outside.
The LFD also during the month:
E2 assisted Englewood in the Cross Creek complex with a vehicle fire, checking for extension to the building until the remainder of their companies arrived.
Handled various incidents in town including a large carbon monoxide incident at H-Mart.
E2 responded and operated at a multiple alarm fire in Fairview during the early morning hours of 3/29 and also responded on a cover assignment to Cliffside Park for a 2nd alarm last week.
In the midst of all this, members conducted multiple nights of engine company drills focusing on timed hose stretches, pump operations for new drivers, and water supply operations. We are always accepting applications. Join today.
