March update🚒
The LFD responded to numerous calls for service and conducted many hours of training throughout the month of March.

3/22 - 16:11hrs Units were dispatched to 313 Woodland Pl. for a reported fire in a multiple dwelling. LE-7 arrived at 16:15 and confirmed a fire in the public hallway on the 3rd floor and transmitted an all hands. It was discovered to be an e-scooter on fire in the hallway and was quickly knocked with a water can. LE-9, Engine 2, Ladder 1, Englewood engine, Fort Lee ladder, and Bergen county hazmat responded. Units operated for approx. 2 hours and the fire was placed under control after searches, ventilation, and battery disposal was complete by BC hazmat. Thank you and . Please be mindful where you store your e-scooters and similar battery powered items (bikes, hoverboards, etc) These batteries are the cause of thousands of fires nationwide and had this fire gone unnoticed it could have been very serious and possibly deadly. Please avoid storing these items indoors, near sleeping areas and exits, or near buildings if stored outside.

The LFD also during the month:
E2 assisted Englewood in the Cross Creek complex with a vehicle fire, checking for extension to the building until the remainder of their companies arrived.

Handled various incidents in town including a large carbon monoxide incident at H-Mart.

E2 responded and operated at a multiple alarm fire in Fairview during the early morning hours of 3/29 and also responded on a cover assignment to Cliffside Park for a 2nd alarm last week.

In the midst of all this, members conducted multiple nights of engine company drills focusing on timed hose stretches, pump operations for new drivers, and water supply operations. We are always accepting applications. Join today.

Saturday night Engine 2, Engine 1, Ladder 1, LE 7, 8, & 9 responded to the High School for an activated alarm. LE-7 arrived on scene and reported a smoke condition in the cafeteria and an odor of burning. Units investigated and found a malfunctioning HVAC unit that was pumping smoke into the building to be the cause. LFD units were clear in 2 hours after shutting down the unit and conducting ventilation. A thorough investigation was conducted to ensure the safety and well being of the students and faculty that occupy our schools.

E2 established a water supply and initially attempted to stretch a line to the interior via a side door until an evacuation was ordered by command. E2 supplied multiple master streams while the crew opened up the B exposure and kept the fire from spreading. Ladder 1 also briefly responded for a cover assignment, until replaced. Units operated in single digit temperatures for more than 6 hours.

After returning to the Borough, while members were getting E2 back in service, the LFD was dispatched at 1034hrs to 392 Grand Ave. for report of smoke. E1, L1, R1, LE 7, 8, & 9 responded. A fire was found in a crawl space with limited access. An All Hands was transmitted bringing an Englewood Engine Company and FAST truck from Teaneck. E1 stretched a line and extinguished the fire while L1 conducted primary searches. The fire was under control in under 30 minutes. Thank you for the response .

On Thursday November 13th the LFD participated in a joint drill with the Fort Lee Fire Department. Members trained on forcible entry techniques and conducted primary searches in a simulated hoarding condition. Unfortunately these conditions are commonly faced and severely delay the fire department from accomplishing tasks such as searching for victims and locating fire. This drill stressed the importance of communication and gave our newer members a perspective on how hard these conditions can make our job when encountered. Thank you for hosting.
