There will be limited access to the water salesman in the alley behind City Hall for the next 2 weeks starting Monday, September 14 while the water tower is being painted. Work should be completed each day by 7 pm and the water salesman can be used after that until work resumes the following morning.

If you see water on the road just north of the fire station. It’s intentional. The city is draining the blue water tower in preparation for a painting crew that will be here soon. Get ready for fresh paint on the blue water tower this fall.

We will be closed Monday, September 7th for Labor Day. Refuse pickup scheduled for Tuesday will be picked up on Wednesday, Wednesday's route will be picked up on Thursday and Friday will be on Friday as normal.

Road closure information in regards to Decatur County’s National Night Out

🚧 ROAD CLOSURE NOTICE – Decatur County National Night Out 🚧

To help ensure a safe and enjoyable event for everyone attending the 4th Annual Decatur County National Night Out, the streets surrounding the City of Leon, Iowa Town Square will be closed to through traffic.

🗓 Tuesday, August 4, 2026
⏰ Road Closures: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
🎉 Event Hours: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Closed Streets:
🚧 NE 3rd Street (between N Main St. and NE Idaho St.)
🚧 NE 2nd Street (between N Main St. and NE Idaho St.)
🚧 N Main Street (between NE 3rd St. and NE 2nd St.)
🚧 NE Idaho Street (between NE 3rd St. and NE 2nd St.)

Please use the posted detour routes and allow yourself a few extra minutes if you’re traveling through downtown Leon.
