💦☀️ GAZEBO RESERVATIONS ARE COMING TO LEON! ☀️💦

As we prepare to open the new Splash Pad, we wanted to share some important information about reservations.

🏕️ The gazebo and picnic table underneath it will be available to reserve for parties, gatherings, and special occasions.

🚫 The splash pad itself will remain open to the public and cannot be reserved for private use.

📋 How to Reserve:
• Complete a reservation request form online at CityofLeon.org
• Submitting a form does not guarantee a reservation
• Reservations are confirmed only after approval and notification from the City

💲 Reservation Fee:
• $25 non-refundable reservation fee
• Payment must be received to secure your reservation

📧 Once your request has been reviewed, you will be notified whether your reservation has been approved.

We are excited to offer this new amenity and look forward to seeing families, friends, and community groups enjoy the park this summer!

🌳 Reserve your gathering space while still enjoying all the fun the Splash Pad has to offer.

A Message to Parents, Grandparents, and Caregivers

One of the wonderful things about living in a small community is that our children can enjoy walking around town, riding bikes, spending time with friends, and experiencing a level of freedom that many communities no longer have.

With that freedom comes responsibility.

Today, several young people were observed engaging in behavior that could have easily resulted in property damage or someone getting hurt. Rocks were being thrown toward vehicles, a drink was sprayed toward a community member who asked them to stop, and objects were used to strike windows at a local business.

Fortunately, no one was injured, no vehicles were damaged, and no property was damaged.

We are not sharing photos or identifying information because the individuals involved are juveniles. Instead, we'd like to use this as an opportunity to encourage families to have an important conversation.

Please take a few moments to talk with your children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and their friends before they head out the door.

A few reminders worth discussing:

• If you see rocks, leave them where they are.
• Respect people, businesses, and property.
• Treat others the way you would want to be treated.
• If someone asks you to stop doing something, stop.
• What may seem like harmless fun can quickly become a criminal offense.
• Remember that many areas in town are monitored by security cameras.

If a child is old enough to be out and about with friends, they are old enough to understand basic courtesy, respect, and responsibility.

Leon is a great place to live because we look out for one another. Let's work together to help our young people make good choices and continue building a community we can all be proud of.

Thank you for helping keep Leon safe, respectful, and welcoming for everyone.

Wednesday’s Community Shout-Out

This week, we’d like to start something new by recognizing the people who quietly make our community a better!!

This week’s shout-out goes to a community member (Carla Jimenez) who spends countless hours helping others without asking for recognition. Whether it’s mowing yards for those who can’t afford it, accepting whatever someone can give, or simply doing it because it needs to be done, she is always looking for ways to help. Around Valentine’s Day, she buys roses for local seniors just to brighten their day. If she knows someone is struggling, chances are she’s already figuring out a way to lend a hand.

She doesn’t do these things for attention, praise, or recognition. She does them because she cares about people and about this community.

Leon is full of individuals like this—people whose kindness often goes unnoticed but whose impact is felt every day. We are grateful for neighbors who step up, help out, and remind us what community is all about.

Thank you for making Leon a little brighter.

Do you know someone who quietly gives back, helps others, and rarely gets the recognition they deserve? We’d love to hear about them. Send us a message and tell us their story. They may not want the spotlight, but their kindness deserves to be celebrated.
