Going into the Labor Day holiday, you might be enjoying the last days of summer outside with family and friends. Don’t put paper plates in the recycling bin. While many plates *LOOK* like they are made of pure, wood-based paper, they often are not. Food residue is also a problem. Some types of paper plates are compostable in municipal or commercial composting, but be sure that the plates are certified compostable ("BPI" certification).

What else is trash?
❌ Paper towel and napkins (compostable)
❌ Colored plastic cups
❌ Plastic utensils
❌ Juice boxes
❌ Cartons
