I-40 WEST SHUTDOWN FOR VEHICLE FIRE

I-40 West at the 365 mile marker is currently shut down due to a vehicle fire.

First responders with the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, Loudon County Fire / Rescue, TN, TDOT HELP Truck, and Tennessee Highway Patrol are on scene. The vehicle fire has been extinguished, and crews are working to get the roadway reopened as soon as possible.

Thankfully, there were no injuries reported.

Please use caution and be aware of emergency crews working along the roadway when the interstate has reopened.

FIRST RESPONDER OF THE YEAR

This award is a well-deserved recognition of Khristian’s dedication to the Loudon County community and the work he does every day for the Sheriff’s Office. Whether he is working a case, helping someone in need, or simply doing his job behind the scenes, Khristian consistently represents what it means to serve others.

We are proud to have him as part of the LCSO family and appreciate the VFW Post 5150 for recognizing one of our own. Congratulations, Khristian! We are proud of you and grateful for everything you do for Loudon County.

LCSO TAKES HOME THE BEST CHILI!

The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office is proud to say we brought home the Best Chili award at the United Community Bank’s 1st Annual Chili Cook-Off in Lenoir City!

Sergeant Detective Marty Branam took home 2nd Place in the individual chili competition, while Deputies Chris Goad and Patrick Purdy also put their chili recipes to the test. All of the winners were selected by votes from those attending the event.

A big thank you to United Community Bank for organizing and hosting this great event and, more importantly, for giving our community a chance to come together while raising money for the Loudon County Fire / Rescue, TN.

We appreciate everyone who came out, tasted some chili and supported a great cause. And we’re already looking forward to defending our title next year!

25 YEARS LATER, WE REMEMBER

Today marks 25 years since September 11, 2001, a day that changed our country forever.

We remember the nearly 3,000 lives lost, the families who never got to say goodbye, and the countless people whose lives were forever changed that day. We especially remember the first responders who ran toward the danger while others were running away. Police officers, firefighters, paramedics, dispatchers, and countless other emergency personnel answered the call without knowing what they were walking into. Many never made it home.

25 years later, their courage and sacrifice still serve as a reminder of what it means to put others before yourself. At the Loudon County Sheriff's Office, we remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, those who continue to carry the weight of that day, and the first responders across our country who continue to answer the call every day.

We will never forget.

REST EASY, SHERIFF SPANGLER

The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office is deeply saddened by the passing of former Knox County Sheriff Tom Spangler.

Sheriff Spangler was a friend to the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office and to many of us personally. Our agencies have shared a close relationship for many years, and we have always considered the men and women of the KCSO part of our family.

Sheriff Spangler fought a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer while continuing to lead KCSO and serve the people of Knox County. Even while facing his own personal battle, he continued showing up, leading his people, and putting his community first. That says a great deal about the kind of sheriff and man he was.

“Spanky was a good friend and a man I had a tremendous amount of respect for,” said Sheriff Jimmy Davis. “I know how much he cared about his deputies and the people of Knox County. He was a strong leader, but more importantly, he was a good man. We have shared a lot of time and memories with Spanky and the Knox County Sheriff’s Office over the years, and his passing is a loss that we feel here in Loudon County as well. Our hearts are with his family and everyone at KCSO.”

From all of us at the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, we send our love and condolences to the Spangler family and to our brothers and sisters at the Knox County Sheriff’s Office.

Rest easy, Sheriff Spangler. Your service, friendship, and legacy will not be forgotten.

REBRANDING LCSO

You may have noticed a little more green around Loudon County lately.

The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office is in the process of rebranding, which includes transitioning from our traditional navy blue uniforms to green.

It’s a new look for LCSO that gives our deputies a distinct identity while continuing to serve the people of Loudon County.

END OF WATCH - K-9 DEJA-VU

Today, the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office says goodbye to a very special member of our family.
K-9 Deja has passed away.

For many of us, Deja was much more than a K-9. She was part of our Sheriff’s Office family, part of our lives, our stories, and our memories. She served our community alongside her handler, Sergeant Clay Jenkins, and before Clay, she was partnered with his father, Sergeant Chris Jenkins.

When Sergeant Chris Jenkins was killed in the line of duty in 2022, Clay quickly took on the responsibility of becoming Deja’s handler. That partnership carried on a bond that meant a great deal to both of them, and to all of us who watched it unfold.

Deja also carried another special connection to our Sheriff’s Office family. She was the daughter of K-9 Dante, who passed away earlier this year, making Deja’s place in our Sheriff’s Office family even more special.

Deja and the entire Jenkins family are woven into the fabric of our Sheriff's Office in a way that is difficult to put into words. She was there through the good days, the difficult days, and everything in between.

Today, our hearts are especially heavy for Sergeant Clay Jenkins and the entire Jenkins family. We know how much Deja meant to Clay, and we know that saying goodbye to her is saying goodbye to a piece of a very important chapter in his life and in the life of our Sheriff's Office. Deja gave her best to this community, and she was loved by the people who worked beside her.

Rest easy, Deja. You were a good girl, a great partner, and a member of our family.

Thank you for your service. You will not be forgotten.

⚠️ Highway 72 is back open. ⚠️

WRECK WITH INJURIES SHUTDOWN HIGHWAY 72

The Loudon County Sheriff’s Office is currently on the scene of a serious wreck on Highway 72 near the Monroe County line involving three patients. Two patients are in critical condition, and one patient has been flown by Lifestar to a local trauma center.

A landing zone was established on Highway 72 at Highway 444 to allow Lifestar to land safely and transport the patient to a local trauma center. We appreciate the motorists who have remained patient and allowed emergency crews to safely establish and operate the landing zone.

First responders from the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office, Loudon County Fire & Rescue, Priority Ambulance Service, Monroe County Ambulance Service, Tennessee Highway Patrol, Tellico Village Fire Department, and the Loudon County Emergency Management Agency are on scene assisting with the wreck.

One of the vehicles involved was hauling chemicals, resulting in a chemical spill. The Loudon County Emergency Management Agency is handling the spill. There is currently no threat to the public from the chemical spill.

We also want to recognize the Loudon County E-911 dispatchers, who have been working behind the scenes to coordinate the response and get the appropriate emergency resources where they are needed. Their quick work and communication are an important part of every emergency response.

Highway 72 is currently shut down and is expected to remain closed for approximately the next hour. Traffic is backed up for several miles in both directions.

Motorists are asked to slow down, pay attention, and use an alternate route if possible.

LCSO INVESTIGATORS EXECUTE SEARCH WARRANT

On August 29, 2026, investigators with the Loudon County Sheriff’s Office Crime Suppression Unit, assisted by the SWAT Team, the K9 Unit, Deputies from the Patrol Division, and Blount County Sheriff’s Office Drone Team, executed a search warrant at a residence on Highland Park Drive in Loudon County.

Upon arrival, the SWAT Team entered the driveway with emergency lights activated and gave clear verbal commands for everyone inside to exit the residence.

Investigators had prior knowledge that Caiden Hall had an active warrant. As law enforcement arrived, Hall attempted to flee the residence by jumping from a rear window. After being given commands to show his hands and him visually spotting LCSO K9’s securing the perimeter, Hall retreated back inside the residence and barricaded himself in a crawl space.

The SWAT Team attempted to communicate with Hall and convince him to surrender peacefully. When Hall refused to surrender, the SWAT Team made entry into the loft area of the residence and located him hiding inside the crawl space. Hall was taken into custody without further incident.

During a search of the residence, investigators recovered almost one ounce of methamphetamine, along with multiple cut straws, scales, syringes, packaging materials, and a methamphetamine pipe.

“We will continue to pursue those who bring illegal drugs into our community and hold them accountable. This case hits especially close to home because of its proximity to an elementary school. Our children deserve to grow up and go to school in a safe environment, and we will do everything within our authority to protect them.” Said Sheriff Jimmy Davis.

While this residence is located near Highland Park Elementary School, it does not fall within the designated distance required to enhance the charges for the sale of narcotics within a school zone.
