🚔💙 BEHIND THE SCENES: THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP LEIGHTON GOING! 💙🚔

Here at the Leighton Police Department, we are fortunate to have some incredible individuals working behind the scenes who help keep our town running smoothly! Whether it’s assisting with our day-to-day operations, special events, police details, or handling routine and after-hours town maintenance, there are people who go above and beyond to serve our community.

This week, we want to shine the spotlight on two very special individuals who work tirelessly to help make Leighton a better place!

👏 Meet Nick and BJ Wallace — Leighton’s Father-Son Duo! 👏

Nick and BJ are both members of the Town of Leighton Maintenance Department, and if you know anything about their jobs, you know that no two days are ever the same!

💧 One day, they’re repairing a water leak.

🗑️ The next, they’re collecting trash.

🌱 Another day, they’re mowing grass and keeping our town looking its best.

🛠️ And that’s just scratching the surface of everything they do!

But their dedication doesn’t stop with their regular responsibilities. Nick and BJ are always willing to lend a helping hand to the Leighton Police Department, whether we’re preparing for community events, handling special details, or simply needing an extra set of hands. They step up without hesitation, without question, and often without any expectation of recognition!

These two are a perfect example of what it means to take pride in your community. Their hard work, dedication, and willingness to help others do not go unnoticed!

❤️ Nick and BJ, from all of us at the Leighton Police Department, THANK YOU! Your commitment to our town, our department, and the citizens of Leighton is truly appreciated!

👏 Now, we have a little challenge for our community!

The next time you see Nick or BJ working around town, take a moment to shake their hands, give them a wave, or offer them a BIG OLE THANK YOU! They deserve to know just how much their hard work means to all of us!

🚔📚 BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS, EDUCATING STUDENTS, AND PROMOTING SAFETY! 👮‍♂️💙

Today, the Leighton Police Department had the wonderful opportunity to visit Leighton Elementary School and speak with students participating in the after-school program!

Chief Austin Evans and Officer Austin Smith spent the afternoon engaging with students from Kindergarten through 7th Grade, discussing several important safety topics, including:

🚨 911 Safety – Understanding when and how to call 911 during an emergency.

🚫 Say NO to Drugs – Encouraging students to make safe, healthy, and responsible decisions.

🛑 Stranger Danger – Teaching students how to recognize potentially dangerous situations and protect themselves.

🤝 Peer Pressure – Helping students understand the importance of making good choices and standing up for what is right.

At the Leighton Police Department, we believe that community policing starts with building relationships, especially with our youth! 💙

Our goal is not only to educate students about safety but also to build trust, create positive connections, and remind every child that our officers are here to help, protect, and support them whenever they need us.

We want our students to feel comfortable approaching an officer, asking questions, or reaching out for help in any situation. Building that trust today helps create a safer and stronger community tomorrow!

A special THANK YOU to Leighton Elementary School for welcoming us and allowing us to spend time with these amazing students! We truly appreciate every opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of our community’s youngest members.
