The Leighton Police Department would like to express a huge thank you to the Colbert County Sheriff’s Office for allowing us to utilize two of their department ATVs during this weekend’s Sledgefest festivities.

The use of these ATVs greatly assisted our officers with helping keep festival attendees, vendors, and staff safe before, during, and after the event. Partnerships like these continue to show the strong working relationship between our agencies and our shared commitment to protecting and serving our communities.

Thank you again to our amazing Sheriff’s Office for your continued support and assistance throughout the weekend!

2026 Sledgefest has officially come to an end, and we are incredibly thankful for all of our vendors and food trucks who spent the weekend enjoying the fun with us, as well as everyone who came out to enjoy the live music, stop by, shake our hands, and spend time with our community.

We are proud to see our small town of Leighton come together each year to celebrate and honor the historic heritage of our community. Events like this remind us what makes our town so special — the people.

From all of us, thank you for your continued support, and we hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable remainder of the weekend.

Today we celebrate our Chief’s 28th birthday — 28 years around the sun! Whew… you’re getting old!!! Just kidding! 😂

🚧 RAILROAD CROSSING CLOSED | COLBERT COUNTY 🚧 - 6/4/26 - 4:15pm:

Motorists are advised that the railroad crossing at **Old Highway 20 and Fennel Road** in the Leighton area of Colbert County is **closed until further notice** for repairs.

🚂 Crews are working to complete repairs at the crossing.

⚠️ Drivers should plan ahead and use alternate routes while the crossing remains closed.

🕓 Reported: June 4, 2026 at approximately 4:15 PM

Please use caution in the area and watch for work crews and traffic control devices.
