🏀🚒 Company 2 Hits the Court for Air Management Training 🚒🏀

Tonight, Company 2 took advantage of the newly renovated courts at Towtaid Park for an Air Management drill with a competitive twist.

Firefighters played basketball while wearing full PPE and SCBA, practicing air conservation and monitoring low-air alarms and PSI notifications as they pushed their packs to their limits. Training like this promotes physical fitness while building familiarity and confidence with the lifesaving equipment we depend on during emergencies.

It was also great to see some of our Cherry Valley neighbors stop by, cheer us on, and check out the new courts!

The members of the Leicester Fire Department are saddened to learn of the Line of Duty Death of Firefighter Robert Kilduff of the Boston Fire Department last night.

Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences are with Firefighter Kilduff’s family, friends, and the members of Boston Fire during this incredibly difficult time.

Rest in peace Firefighter Kilduff 🚒🖤

Congratulations to all of the incredible students who participated. Your determination, sportsmanship, smiles, and enthusiasm made the day truly special. Thank you for allowing us to be a small part of such an inspiring event — we are proud of each and every one of you!

Despite the cool, damp weather, members of the Leicester Fire Department spent the day sharpening critical firefighting skills during today’s live fire training evolutions.

Firefighters trained on:
🔥 Handline deployments & advancement
🔥 Fire attack operations
🔥 Below-grade fires
🔥 Search & rescue
🔥 Ladder operations
🔥 Pump operations

Training like this is essential to maintaining the skills, teamwork, and coordination needed to protect our community when real emergencies happen.

A huge thank you to our mutual aid partners from the Auburn Fire Department and Spencer Fire Department for assisting with today’s evolutions and helping make the training a success.

We’d also like to recognize REHAB 78 for keeping crews hydrated, fueled, and ready to continue training throughout the day.

Finally, thank you to the Paxton Fire Department for covering the Town of Leicester while our members focused on maintaining and improving their skills. Mutual aid and regional cooperation truly make all the difference.

RESPECT, HONOR & REMEMBRANCE

The annual Police Unity Tour is a ride to remember. Every moment of every mile…it’s about the fallen. It is about bringing awareness to their sacrifice, their memory, and their legacy of service. Never to be forgotten!

This year on May 22nd marks the 10-year anniversary of the line-of-duty murder of Leicester and Auburn PD’s Ronald Tarentino Jr.. Hardly a moment goes by that Ron’s memory is not on the mind of those who work at the Leicester PD. And for those who had the honor of serving with him, the meaning goes even deeper. This year, two of those men who worked with Ron, ride in his memory.

Sergeant Craig Guertin and Officer Michael Lombardozzi are embarking on a nationally organized bicycle ride, along with 2,000 fellow officers from across the country. This 300-mile journey, which gathers in New Jersey on May 9th, arrives together in formation at the National Law Enforcement Officer’s Memorial in Washington, D.C. on May 12th. This date coincides with Police Week, and marks National Peace Officers Memorial Day which falls on May 15th. It’s an incredible tribute to the nation’s fallen!

Since the Police Unity Tour began in 1994 tens of thousands of riders, across the nation’s 8 chapters, have relied on generous donors to support the mission and the various programs that the NLEOMF supports.
