💡Everyone’s talking about paying volunteer firefighters, but nominal compensation doesn’t create more time.

Volunteers are already balancing jobs, families and more. A stipend might recognize the effort, but it doesn’t create new hours for response or training.

During the Month of May, the Lehighton Fire Department Water Rescue and Underwater Recovery responded to 3 different waterway incidents that resulted in fatalities. These incidents occurred in Carbon, Lehigh, and Monroe Counties. As we are just really getting into swimming and watersport season, we would like to take this time to remember to practice waterway safety. For the safety of you and your family and for the benefit of first responders please ensure you are following these guidelines and make wise decisions. Thank you.
