Please join us in congratulating Officer Lesser and K9 Abel on successfully completing and becoming certified through the Utah POST Patrol K9 School!

Over the course of this rigorous 8-week course, Officer Lesser and Abel put in countless hours of training and were challenged in areas including obedience, apprehension, tracking, and building searches. Their hard work, dedication, and teamwork have prepared them to serve our community at an even higher level.

A certified patrol K9 team is more than just another tool for law enforcement. Their presence can often provide officers with additional options for de-escalation, giving individuals an opportunity to comply before a situation becomes more dangerous. At the same time, when circumstances require it, a properly trained and certified K9 team can help quickly and safely resolve dangerous situations, reducing the risk of injury to officers, the public, and suspects.

We are incredibly proud of the work Officer Lesser and K9 Abel have put in to reach this accomplishment. Congratulations to the newest Utah POST Certified Patrol K9 Team!

It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of retired K9 Shadow.

Shadow faithfully served our community with courage, loyalty, and unwavering dedication. His impact on our department and those who had the privilege of working alongside him will never be forgotten.
