Due to the large amount of snow we are expected to receive over the weekend, a parking ban will begin at 12 AM Sunday and will go to noon on Monday. Our street development employees appreciate your understanding on this. We understand the difficulty this causes for many of you, especially on the south side of town. Thank you for your understanding on this.

Information that is being posted saying the ban is from Saturday to Tuesday is incorrect.

As many of you are now aware. We had a significant gas leak on Lisbon Street yesterday when a main transmission line was struck. This had the potential of having an absolutely catastrophic outcome. I want to say thank you to the Leetonia Fire Department for quickly taking over the situation and providing the guidance to help minimize the threat to the community. This was a worst case scenario that ended up having one of the best possible outcomes. I also want to thank the Leetonia PD, Columbiana County EMA director Peggy Clark, CFD, Columbia Gas crews and all those that worked together to get this incident under control. Hats off to the community for reacting quickly, coming together and helping out. This is truly what makes Leetonia such a strong community.

If you are not already at your house and live on Somer Street please come to the Luthern Church and check in with the fire dept. We are working to check gas levels in your house and once we clear it, you will be able to stay at your house. Once cleared we will be turning the electric back on shortly and after that, we will be reintroducing gas to everyone's house to get you back online. The quicker you can get to the fire hall, the quicker we can get everybody back in their homes.
