Congratulations Sheriff Craft on this well deserved recognition!

SHERIFF SAM CRAFT RECOGNIZED FOR SPIRIT OF LOUISIANA AWARD

The Vernon Parish Sheriff’s Office would like to congratulate Sheriff Sam Craft on being recognized with the “Spirit of Louisiana” Award on May 28, 2026, during a ceremony held in Bossier City. The award was presented by U.S. House Speaker and Louisiana Congressman Mike Johnson.

This award reflects Sheriff Craft’s continued dedication, leadership, and service to the citizens of Vernon Parish and the State of Louisiana.

We are extremely proud of Sheriff Craft’s hard work and his commitment to the community to be recognized on such a meaningful level.

During the ceremony, Speaker Johnson acknowledged the positive impact the Sheriff’s Office continues to have throughout the community and praised the agency’s strong relationship with the public, proactive approach to law enforcement, and continued investment in training and preparedness.

Today, the Vernon Parish Police Jury was proud to honor Mr. Audie Hilton for his 30 years of service to the La. Department of Agriculture. Congratulations on your much deserved retirement.

Mr. Hilton was instrumental during the 2023 wildfire outbreak in Vernon Parish, cutting fire lines to help protect people's lives and property.
