Vernon Parish Coroner’s Office Announces Leadership Transition, Staffing Changes, and New Personnel Additions
Leesville, LA — The Vernon Parish Coroner’s Office is announcing several significant staffing updates, including a leadership transition and new personnel additions, aimed at strengthening operational capacity and ensuring continued high standards of service to the community.
As of 26 Nov. 2025, and after over 20 years of dedicated leadership, Chief Investigator Sharon Green has formally stepped down from her position as Chief and will transition into a Senior Investigator role as she enters a semi-retired status. Chief Green has been instrumental in shaping investigative standards, mentoring new investigators, and fostering strong interagency relationships. Her continued involvement as a senior member of the team will support ongoing training and field operations while allowing her to reduce her workload as she moves into semi-retirement.
With this transition, Investigator Mary Lopez has been appointed as the new Chief Investigator for the Vernon Parish Coroner’s Office. Lopez has demonstrated outstanding professionalism, leadership capability, and dedication to the mission of the agency. Her promotion reflects both her experience and her commitment to advancing investigative practices and team development within the office.
The Coroner’s Office is also pleased to welcome Kylie Angermeier, who joined the investigative team. Kylie will serve in a supervised training role while she works toward obtaining her American Board of Medicolegal Death Investigators (ABMDI) certification. Throughout her training period, she will accompany senior investigators to ensure adherence to proper investigative protocols.
These staffing adjustments reflect the office’s continued commitment to professional growth, leadership development, and ensuring the community receives timely, accurate, and compassionate service.
Coroner Dr. Granger stated, “We are grateful for Chief Green’s years of service and leadership, and we are pleased she will continue contributing her expertise in a senior role. We also congratulate Chief Lopez on her well-deserved promotion and look forward to the valuable contributions our newest investigator will bring.”
