2-2 Infantry Regiment recognized RAMROD Soldiers for their service in Europe. On 12JAN, the battalion awarded NATO Medals to every Soldier who deployed in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve from July 2024 through March 2025. RAMRODs strengthened NATO unity, enhanced deterrence, and reinforced our commitment to collective defense alongside allied partners.

Cobra Company conducted a Change of Command today as CPT Presley relinquished command to CPT Hall. We thank CPT Presley for steadfast leadership, disciplined training, and care for Soldiers and Families. Under his command, Cobra Company strengthened readiness and upheld the proud standards of the Ramrods.

We welcome CPT Hall to the team. He assumes command with the trust and confidence of the battalion and is ready to lead Cobra Company through the next training cycle. We appreciate the support of the Ramrod community as we continue to train, fight, and win.

In the Path of Prior Ramrods: CPL Raymond H. Milanowski, Distinguished Service Cross Recipient

On This Day — 21 August 1944
We honor Corporal (then PFC) Raymond H. Milanowski, Headquarters Company, 2-2 Infantry, 5th Infantry Division, for extraordinary heroism near Étampes, France. Under intense enemy mortar fire, he moved to a stricken anti-tank position, pulled a wounded gunner to safety, and rendered first aid while rounds continued to impact around him— these actions of heroism and valor earned him the Distinguished Service Cross.

Through August 1944, the Red Diamonds (5th Infantry Division) and Ramrods drove hard across northern France—Angers (9–10 Aug), Chartres (18 Aug), and heavy fighting at Étampes on 21 Aug. Étampes fell on 22 Aug with the 2nd Infantry Regiment in the lead. We remember CPL Milanowski’s courage and all Ramrods who fought across France, and we carry their legacy forward.

Prior Ramrods showed the way; today’s Ramrods follow it—disciplined, lethal, and ready.

Soldiers from Bear Company trained with Chilean Army mountain instructors during Exercise Southern Vanguard 25.
Ramrods drilled rappel-master checks, over-the-rail and cliff rappels, belay control, and buddy safety procedures to sharpen mountain mobility and small-unit teamwork at altitude.
This partnership training strengthens interoperability and builds shared readiness with our Chilean hosts and regional allies.

🇺🇸🇨🇱🇦🇷🇵🇪 Southern Vanguard 2025 begins in Chile with the Ramrods ready to go.

August 11 through August 29, U.S. Army South will participate in Exercise Southern Vanguard 2025 alongside our Chilean, Argentine, and Peruvian partners in the Antuco region of Chile’s Biobío Region.

This combined winter training exercise brings together elite mountain troops from across the Americas to enhance interoperability, improve combat readiness in extreme conditions, and strengthen the bonds of regional cooperation.

Chile continues to serve as a strategic leader in mountain operations, and we are proud to stand side by side with our partners to build readiness and trust.

🪖 TRENCH WARFARE TRAINING | RAMRODS IN SLOVAKIA 🪖

NOVEMBER 2024

As part of our training, Ramrod platoons conducted trench-clearing operations in Slovakia—repurposing and clearing a Cold War-era trench to serve as a live training lane.

This hands-on effort sharpened our platoons’ ability to conduct deliberate trench assaults, refine battle drills, and rehearse small unit tactics in complex terrain. The training directly supported our force-on-force rotation in Germany (January through February 2025), where lethality, speed, and cohesion were put to the test.

Ramrods continue to build combat-ready teams through realistic training—under any conditions, against any threat.

No terrain too tough. No trench too deep. Ramrods close with and destroy the enemy.

This week, Ramrod Lieutenants conducted a focused Leader Professional Development (LPD) session with MAJ Metternich, centered on the planning, preparation, and ex*****on of Platoon Live Fire Exercises (LFX).

Drawing on years of experience, MAJ Metternich provided tactical insights into fire control measures, range planning, safety considerations, and how to train to standard—not just to time. His mentorship sharpened our junior leaders’ understanding of what right looks like and reinforced the critical link between deliberate planning and battlefield lethality.

💥 EXPERT ACHIEVED | RAMRODS COMPLETE EIB 12-MILE RUCK 💥

On Friday morning, Ramrods from 2-2 Infantry Battalion crossed the finish line of the grueling 12-mile ruck march—the final event of the Expert Infantryman Badge testing lane during E3B. Each step marked the culmination of weeks of preparation, long hours, and a commitment to mastery of the fundamentals.

Those who completed all tasks to standard and earned the coveted EIB have proven themselves as experts in their craft and leaders in the profession of arms. The EIB is not given—it is earned through sweat, grit, and precision.
