First Parade Under the Lights

Marine Barracks Washington’s 2024 Parade Season commenced with the esteemed Friends and Family Parade at the “Oldest Post of the Corps” on May 3, 2024. Col. Robert A. Sucher, commanding officer of Marine Barracks Washington, hosted guest of honor Gen. Eric M. Smith, Commandant of the Marine Corps. The culmination of countless hours of dedication and teamwork was evident in the impressive performances by “The President’s Own” U.S. Marine Band, “The Commandant’s Own” U.S. Marine Drum & Bugle Corps, and the esteemed U.S. Marine Corps Silent Drill Platoon.

Recruiting Station Frederick held its Annual Pool Function this month at 4th LAR, bringing together poolees from substations across Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia.

Once a year, RS Frederick gets the opportunity to gather our next generation of Marines to prepare them mentally and physically through education and competition.

Poolees also got the opportunity to meet Drill Instructors for the first time, further preparing them for their next steps in taking on the challenge of earning the title of United States Marine.

After initial training, 327 days (90% of your year) is dedicated to your civilian work/life.

Some of the benefit packages include additional income, financial support for school, paid for certifications, and licenses, healthcare benefits for you and your family, retirement saving plans, leadership and managerial training that will give you an edge in the civilian job market, and the option to go full time when it works for your schedule.
