WHY VOTE???

Voting in a primary election matters more than most people think—it’s often where the real decisions get made.

First, primaries decide who appears on the general election ballot. If you wait until the general election, you’re choosing between candidates that have already been filtered down. Voting in the primary gives you a say in which candidates make it that far.

Second, in many areas (especially places dominated by one party), the primary is effectively the deciding election. The candidate who wins the primary is very likely to win the general election, so skipping the primary means missing your biggest chance to influence the outcome.

It’s also where you can have a stronger voice. Turnout is usually much lower in primaries than in general elections, which means each vote carries more weight. A small number of votes can genuinely make a difference.

Primaries also let you shape the direction of a party. You’re not just picking a person—you’re helping decide the ideas, policies, and priorities that move forward.

Finally, voting in primaries encourages candidates to engage more with voters early on. When participation is higher, candidates tend to be more responsive and accountable.

So VOTE IN THE PRIMARY! And consider voting early!
