Join the Town for a candlelight vigil as we reflect and remember the events of September 11.

The ceremony will take place this evening, on the Town Green, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Candles will be provided to the first 100 attendees. Only LED candles will be permitted.

The ceremony will include remarks from Mayor Kelly Burk and Leesburg Police Department’s Chief Thea Pirnat. Local performer Meisha Herron will also perform three songs.

The event will be broadcast live on the Town’s page for those who can’t attend.

Discover local art and shop small this weekend in Leesburg!

Art in Your Yard, hosted by the Town’s Commission on Public Art, takes place on Saturday, September 12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Use the online map to visit local artists around Town and explore original paintings, photography, ceramics, sculptures and more: https://leesburgva.info/ArtYard26

The event coincides with Leesburg Movement's Sidewalk Sale in historic downtown, featuring more than 35 independent shops. A thrift tag sale will be held on the Town Green from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. Shop, save, and support local!

For those who are unable to join us in person, the Town will broadcast tomorrow morning’s September 11 observance live on the Town’s page beginning at 8:30 a.m.

The event will take place at Freedom Park, 101 Colonel Grenata Circle, to mark the 25th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.

Mayor Kelly Burk will share a few words during the ceremony. Flowers will be provided to those in attendance to place at the memorial in remembrance of those who lost their lives.
