Nice work yesterday by our Crime Suppression Unit (CSU) and Patrol Squad 2 in the arrest of Kyi Mauri McCaster.

Officers attempted to make contact with McCaster when he fled in a vehicle on North Lake Avenue. A CSU team was positioned at the subdivision entrance where they successfully deployed stop-sticks on three of the four tires, deflating them as he exited. He drove around the corner, ditched the car, and fled on foot. A perimeter was quickly established, and McCaster was apprehended after numerous officers converged on the area.

He was on the run since 2024 for several Lake County warrants including Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell, Possession of a Fi***rm by a Delinquent, Possession of a Fi***rm During Felony and Resisting Arrest without Violence.

Additional charges were added for Possession of a Fi***rm by a Delinquent after a gun was recovered from the car, Fleeing and Eluding, Resisting Arrest without Violence and Possession of a Fi***rm During Felony.

Starting pay ranges from $74,976 - $81,977 (depending on time in service and advanced training/qualifications).

Our police pension is 81.25% of your best 5-years averaged, at age 50. Sworn applicants can buy up to 5-years into the retirement plan. The plan also includes an 8-year deferred retirement option plan (DROP).

LEO's with 2-years of service are eligible for promotion after 2-years with LPD.

New LEO's in the State of Florida are also eligible for a $5,000 bonus from the State, which we will file for you.
