Live training Fire conducted today

Most people only see the flames during a live burn training. What they don’t always see is the preparation that takes place before the first fire is ever lit.

At Lee County Fire & Emergency Services, live fire training is carefully planned and controlled long before the day begins. Instructors inspect the structure, verify safety measures, confirm water supply, establish accountability, and ensure multiple instructors and safety personnel are in place throughout the evolution.

This is not “just setting something on fire.” It is calculated training designed to prepare firefighters for real emergencies while managing risk as safely as possible.

Before the smoke, before the heat, and before the first crew enters — preparation comes first.

Repetition builds confidence, speed, and teamwork.

Today’s crews spent time on the training ground sharpening the basics that matter most when the real call comes in.

Pull the hose. Reload it. Pull it again.

Train hard. Train often. Train like it’s real.”

Today marked the beginning of something new for Lee County as students participated in the physical agility testing process for the very first CTAE Firefighter Class offered in Lee County.

This first-year program will be offered to senior students and will include instruction from Lee County Fire & Emergency Services instructors, giving students firsthand experience and exposure to the Fire and EMS profession.

Students stepping into the program will learn teamwork, leadership, public service, and the physical demands of the fire service. At completion of the class, they will be eligible to test for State Firefighter certification

We are proud of each student willing to take that first step and excited to help support the next generation of firefighters and emergency responders right here in Lee County.

Today the “kids” wanted to play a little. In firefighter terms, that means it’s time to train… so smoke it is.

Today’s crew spent time inside our burn building working in a low-heat, high-smoke environment to sharpen their skills, build confidence, and become more comfortable operating in reduced visibility conditions.

Training like this helps prepare our firefighters for real-world fireground operations and the conditions they may face. Thank you for doing the hard work to better protect our citizens.

Lee County Fire and Emergency Services responders continue to make us proud!

Please join us in congratulating Dillion Long on successfully passing the National Registry EMT examination and earning the title of Emergency Medical Technician.

Dillion is the fourth and final member of the original four students from our recent in-house EMT class to successfully complete the program and achieve National Registry certification — a milestone accomplishment for these individuals, our training division and our department as a whole.

This achievement reflects dedication, perseverance, and a commitment to serving the citizens of Lee County with professionalism and compassion.

These are the same “kids”we mentioned yesterday — the next generation stepping up, putting in the work, and helping ensure the future of EMS within Lee County Fire and Emergency Services remains strong for years to come.

Congratulations, Mr. Long!

What’s lurking in your dryer vent?

This amount of lint was removed from a single dryer vent line. Lint buildup restricts airflow, causes dryers to overheat, and can quickly become a serious fire hazard inside your home.

Dryer Fire Safety Tips:
• Clean the lint screen after every load
• Inspect and clean dryer vents regularly
• Avoid crushed or kinked vent hoses
• Watch for clothes taking longer to dry
• If the dryer feels unusually hot, have it inspected

A few minutes of maintenance can help prevent a devastating house fire.

Stay safe, Lee County!

BURN BAN LIFTED FOR OUR AREA

By Executive Order from Governor Brian Kemp and guidance from the Georgia Forestry Commission, the outdoor burn ban affecting our area has been lifted.

Although the burn ban has been canceled, residents are still urged to use caution when conducting outdoor burning.

✅ Keep a water source nearby

✅ Keep fires away from homes, woods, and structures
✅ Fully extinguish all fires before leaving the area

Lee County Fire & Emergency Services would also like to thank the citizens of Lee County for your cooperation during this burn ban period. Our community listened, complied, and helped reduce the risk of dangerous wildfire conditions across our area. Your support and responsible actions are greatly appreciated.

Today, “the kids” — as they’re “affectionately” referred to around the station — decided to get some exercise in while wearing full turnout gear. What started as a friendly game quickly turned into an intense workout, but it also served a purpose: beginning the process of acclimating to the warmer temperatures and weather changes ahead.

Training, conditioning, teamwork, and a little friendly family competition .
