Since the publication of the article about signs seemed to help curb another issue, it would seem logical that a few pictures released (and hopefully shared by you) on social media might aid in addressing a situation in the Township...
Finnin Park, at the corner of Ashley Drive & Fostoria Drive, continues to be inundated with motorized trespassers, damagers of signs, etc. These violations occur at various times and on various days. Based on some of the pictures, it seems as though it might even at times be an organized, but unauthorized, event including adults and children.
Allegheny Township Code, Chapter 176 regarding Parks & Trails, clearly indicates none of these vehicles should be present in the parks, trails, or other similar public property at any time. Notice has been posted at various locations in hopes of keeping the park a tranquil place safe for visitors, children, pets, etc. Public works puts a lot of effort into keeping our facilities in good shape and we know you appreciate their efforts too!
So, we are asking for your help. Take a good look at this sampling of pictures. If you know any of these people, please reach out to them and ask them to stop before we have to take enforcement action.
If you don't think they will stop even with your friendly encouragement, please reach out to us so that we can forward an investigation and, if necessary, prosecution(s). Again, our hope is that through education and awareness this will stop without having to involve the court system.
If you do choose to legally ride an ATV, UTV, or some other set of initials, here is a link to the DCNR website with some safety tips:
