Here Ye!!! Here Ye!!! It's officially open to ALL TRAFFIC!!!

The roundabout in front of the former Hour-Glass Photo building opened to all traffic within the last hour. Please make sure to take heed and follow the directions/information on all signs. It is a single lane roundabout, so no passing, parking, etc. within the area. Vehicles should proceed through single file in the same direction. Here is a link with a quick tutorial you may find helpful (you may have to skip an ad, thanks YouTube!):

While it is open to northbound and southbound traffic, the spur that leads onto La Belle Vue Road remains impassable. Work on that leg of the roundabout should conclude in October.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND AND PLEASE DRIVE SAFELY >>>>>

"We get by with a little help from our (furry) friends..." Now please help this pleasant little fella find his way home!!!

This very agreeable beagle or possible hound mix has taken to frequenting back porches in the 400 block of Dairy Farm Road. He appears, hangs out for a couple hours, then disappears off to do some more hunting or roaming we suppose. While he has a collar, there are no tags or identification present.

The Allegheny Township Police have been made aware and will hopefully be called when he is there on his next visit so that they can attempt to check for a chip.

If you recognize this pooch, please let his owner know so that they can contact ATPD and a reunion can be facilitated!!! If you want to speak with an officer about this dog, please call 724.836.1551 anytime.

Please LIKE & SHARE to get the word out there!!!

Since the publication of the article about signs seemed to help curb another issue, it would seem logical that a few pictures released (and hopefully shared by you) on social media might aid in addressing a situation in the Township...

Finnin Park, at the corner of Ashley Drive & Fostoria Drive, continues to be inundated with motorized trespassers, damagers of signs, etc. These violations occur at various times and on various days. Based on some of the pictures, it seems as though it might even at times be an organized, but unauthorized, event including adults and children.

Allegheny Township Code, Chapter 176 regarding Parks & Trails, clearly indicates none of these vehicles should be present in the parks, trails, or other similar public property at any time. Notice has been posted at various locations in hopes of keeping the park a tranquil place safe for visitors, children, pets, etc. Public works puts a lot of effort into keeping our facilities in good shape and we know you appreciate their efforts too!

So, we are asking for your help. Take a good look at this sampling of pictures. If you know any of these people, please reach out to them and ask them to stop before we have to take enforcement action.

If you don't think they will stop even with your friendly encouragement, please reach out to us so that we can forward an investigation and, if necessary, prosecution(s). Again, our hope is that through education and awareness this will stop without having to involve the court system.

If you do choose to legally ride an ATV, UTV, or some other set of initials, here is a link to the DCNR website with some safety tips:

Closing time... You don't have to go home but you can't drive here....

Don't let the open stretch of roadway fool you this morning. PA-356 between Hyde Park/Melwood Roads and Hour Glass Photo is actively being shut down now and will be impassable by 10am today.

This section of PA-356 will be completely CLOSED until the end of August 2023!

PennDOT and the contractor has or is posting detour(s). Keep things simple by following the correct routes, i.e. cars use "car detour" and trucks utilize "truck detour" if appropriate.

You can always try to use an app or map, but make sure to heed the posted signs! Rock beats scissors and signs beat your phone or GPS!!!
