Swatara Water Trail The Swatara Water Trail is a total of 60 miles beginning in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, flowing th Canoes and kayaks can plan trips for a few hours, or days.

The Swatara Water Trail is a total of 60 miles beginning in Pine Grove, Schuylkill County, flowing through Lebanon County, and ends at the Susquehanna River in Dauphin County between Middletown and Royalton. Public access points are identified every seven miles along the Trail. Three campgrounds, Jonestown KOA, Swatara Watershed Park, and Hershey Highmeadow Campground, allow for overnight camping along the Swatara Water Trail. Among other scenic, historic and geologic formations along the Trail, within Swatara State Park, paddlers can see the Bordner Cabin, Appalachian Trail and Bridge, and Union Canal Locks.

Today marks the 15th anniversary of the second highest crest of the Swatara Creek at Harper's Tavern. The remnants of Tropical Storm Lee caused the creek to swell to 24.60 feet, surpassing Agnes in 1972 and cresting a foot short of the record from 1889.

Join Swatara Watershed Association and Cocoa Kayaks of Hershey on September 12th at 9:30 am as we open Lebanon Valley Clean Water Week with a guided paddle on the Swatara Creek! All experience levels are welcome.
Enjoy a 2 hour paddle from Harpers Tavern to Swatara Watershed Park, learn about the history and ecology of the creek and partake in light refreshments afterwards.
All equipment is included in your registration fee.

Starting today, Boat House Park is closed for about a month. PA American Water is replacing a water main underneath the creek in this area. You will not be able to park or access the boat launch during construction.
UPDATE: The park will remained closed through Mid July due to construction delays.
